We all know a lot of the main NPC's that survive throught the cataclysm at the end of the WOB destruction, but one man remains unknown: Banon. The only thing they tell us is that we "hope Banon is still alive" (said by Sabin i think").

I want to know if you think Banon survived. If so, tell me how you think he did, and what he might be doing, where he is, etc (This is up to the imagination a little).

I think he survived, but is trapped in the hideout which crumbled under the water, sort of like the sunken castle.

Sadly, I think he died.

He probably would've been one of the first Kefka would kill.

Unless he escaped...

I'm sure he would have been included in at least one scene if he were alive. Since he was always fighting for freedom, I would assume that he would try to rally some people against Kefka. I bet he got smited.

I think Banon got horribly disfigured and had to rejoin the party as Gogo. :P

Nah, not really. Poor guy's probably pushing daisies right now.

Banon is probably dead because of the fact that before you go to the floating continent, himself and Arvis are in Vector and since the WoB is now the WoR, hes probably dead then.

Yeah, since there's no Vector in WoR... sad.gif

It seems kinda strange that no one talks about Banon or Arvis at all in WoR...or, did someone say something about Banon? I can't remember.

Well, after the WoR was induced the Empire was destroyed. Kefka was the oppressive person in power. The Returner organization was probably totally destroyed, so Celes just figured that she should try to gather everyone she could, and then try a go at Kefka. Maybe they didn't have the time to search for them.

I think Kefka would have targeted the fragments of the Returners almost immediately, along with any remnants of the old Ghestal regime. It's my belief that the entire faction (other than our party) was hunted down and killed before they could even reorganize (Kefka probably attempted to do the same to the party members, unsuccessfully) Banon probably got the worst of it.

If he'd have survived I'm sure he would've been included in the post WOB storyline somewhere. As it is, I'd have to agree with the rest ya.

I'd like to think Arvis managed to survive though. Perhaps Kefka missed him because he wasn't wearing bright red and yellow.

Maybe he's too scared to resurface until Kefka is defeated?

As for Banon, didn't care too much for him now I think about it.

I think Bannon was either killed during the reformation of the world or soon after. If he did survive Kefka would have probaly sought him out knowing he was the leader. Kefka would have then used his ultimate power to destroy him, kinda like what happened in Mobliz. If Bannon was still in Vector during the time that the world was destroyed then he probaly died during that time since Kefka's tower is made out of the fragments of Vector and the Floating Continent.

He probably was killed back when the Empire double-crossed the Returners.

Maybe he had fled to Mobliz, which was why Kefka destroyed it.

But maybe he DID live, and changed his physical appearance completely to blend in.

Where did he go next? I'm guessing Nikeah, since it was doing fine after the world was torn apart.

Maybe he's that Returner near the entrance who recognizes you immediately and tells you about the espers escaping from the Magitek Research Facility.

Of course, he couldn't tell you who he really is, because, as the old lady walking around the town says, "We try to keep a low profile around here, to avoid Kefka's ire." (I think that's what she says)

Or maybe he learned about Duncan and disguised himself as him. Who knows?

Actually, I seriously doubt he survived. That was just silly speculation.

I like how you tried quoting the game lines, even if they arent spot on...it makes your idea sound credible, even if it is silly speculation. Silly Speculation is what makes these ideas interesting!

that is THE best theory i have heard pertaining to FFVI. there is facts, there is examples, and it would seem to make sense.

BUT, i would have to say he died. the whole vector turning into kefkas tower thing.

hell, he might be part of the tower section of the final battle. ( nah )

But it does make sense I mean there's no floating continent and no Vector in the WoR and Kefka's tower looks similar to the design of both. Since Bannon was seen last in Vector the forming of Kefka's tower could've destroyed him, by the way I was the one who mentioned Mobliz. Ultimaniac just went more into detail.

Thanks, guys. smile.gif And iamanoob is right, it was his idea first, and it helped give me an idea.

And by the way, when I said, "Or maybe he learned about Banon and disguised himself as him," I meant to say Duncan. Sorry 'bout that.

If no one said he died, he's technically still alive.

No one might have seen him die, so technically if no one said anything then either example could be true.

Perhaps he's in a coma and will awake at the time appointed like king Arthur or maybe he'll never wake like Yasir Airiphat (idk).

Maybe he was frozen, like Walt Disney, and Valigarmanda, and perhaps he'll awaken thousands of years in the future.

Who knows, maybe he did that before, after the War of the Magi, so that he could help the future generations, should the same thing happen. That's a thought.

Or it could be a loose end which will lead us to a sequel in the future.

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
"Banon is trapped underneath debris in the middle of Vector's ruins, left for dead by his own comrades - Edgar, Setzer and the others. Lying there with broken bones, suffering from maddening pain, at some point he goes crazy and swears revenge to the people who have abandoned him. But he cannot achieve his goal alone, so he goes to Dragon's Neck Coliseum and bails Ultros and Chupon out of their debt...
