I think it was kinda disappointing that there wasn't more of him in the game.
I mean, he didn't die, he just ran away. I think it would've been great if he had returned in the WoR, with some new powers granted to him by Kefka. ...Then again, Kefka doesn't really like to share...so probably not. But still, he could've returned, after honing his skills to the point where he believes he can finally beat Sabin. And only Sabin could stop him, maybe with the Phantom Rush. It also would've given Sabin more of the spotlight. ![]() What do you think? |

o_o that'd be pretty cool, actually. FF6 needs more deepish story, anyway. But that's just me and my love for drama. Following Sabin's final defeat of Vargas, he would inform him duncan was alive after all and father and son could ride off into the sunset... 8D

sounds like a very good story tho:) great idea! -------------------- Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed. ~ G. K. Chesterton |

Thanks!
![]() Maybe the developers had hoped to put more of him in the game, but just weren't able to, like with the extra FFIV content they had to leave out. |

Quote (Lockpick @ 12th June 2008 19:59) ![]() I don't mean to pick on you (as it seems I keep having these little back and forths with you of late) but I honestly can't see Vargas and Duncan walking off into the sunset together. All things aside, Vargas did attempt to kill his own Father out of jealousy for the treatment Sabin received...regardless of what Sabin might've told him, Vargas didn't seem like the type to listen to reason. We also can't be sure that he "ran away" as for all we known, Sabin's blitz might've just thrown him off. He may very well be dead, for all we know! I was never crazy about Vargas, but I just hated constantly having to be poisoned as a result of never bringing enough antidotes for that whole mountain. The fight against him also forced me to use blitzes, which I was terrible at on the snes. Maybe I'm just bitter? At any rate, there wasn't enough for me to really get attached to. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

I hated that poison. And also the poison plants from that mountain in FFV where they found the wyvern (off topic, but equally annoying) The first time I played FFVI, Vargas appeared so random to me. He really has no connection... Then I began to look at Vargas overthrowing Duncan as forshadowing Kefka overthrowing Gestahl. I think it would have been interesting just to see Vargas return in the world of ruin, not as a slave of kefka but just as a troubled renegade with the attitude that Sabin has ruined his life and caused his downfall, and that he must get revenge by killing Sabin. It would be just one battle, so not much of an event, but it would be something to give Sabin 'more of the spotlight.' -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! Yep, that's kinda what I was thinking. ![]() Vargas had to potential to be a returning nuisance, kinda like Ultros...though not quite. I guess he was in there as a way to introduce Sabin, and his personality. There could've been a better way, but...oh well. |

The WoR is such a confused state of the world-some missing, some dead-that some just disappeared and nobody knew what occurred. I guess he just went MIA, but if he did return, then there would definitely be a scene focused on Sabin. That is, assuming Vargas didn't die in the WoB.
And it would probably have nothing to do with Kefka. He had no ties to Kefka, and they never seemed to have a common cause. This post has been edited by Harlequin on 15th June 2008 23:41 -------------------- |

The sunset thing was a joke, thus my joke face: 8D Sorry if that was a bit unclear. ^^; I do think it'd be nice for them to reconcile, though. I think he might listen to his father, but you never know. But it would have been interesting to see more development put into it. -------------------- The opera was only performed in English ONCE. It's kinda strange that Duncan didn't mention anything about Vargas.
