Gosh, I hope not.

Final Fantasy 7 has been milked past the breaking point already. It's past 'overdone', past 'kitsch', pretty much in the 'let it die already' category. Final Fantasy 7 has become to Square/Enix what Wolverine became to the Marvel Universe, and what cheese spread balls became to cocktail parties.

Honestly, I think five games and two movies pretty much wraps up the beginning, middle and end of that story. And of course, if it doesn't, we have FF7 allusions and cameos in Tactics, Dissidia, Kingdom Hearts, FFX-2, and a teaser about what the game would look like on PS3. I mean, when is it enough? Do we have to have a FF7 reality TV simulator complete with cameras in the bathrooms? wacko.gif

I am sure that FF7 will, at some point, be redone and and re-released on the PS3. I'm sure it will follow in the footsteps of Dirge of Cerberus and be an absolute snapshot of everything cliche about the series - full of ridiculous posing, comically superhuman feats, effortless killing, and a complete lack of any character depth or plot - in other words: DragonBallZ comes to Midgar or Advent Children One Half.

Until the day of it's eventual re-release, I just want the FF7 series to be allowed to rest. It's been a hard pill for me to swallow, but after 10 years of fanboy squee, I have accepted that FF7 for the moment isn't going anywhere. However, I propose that we let the S/E team work on some other things for a while, and they might be able to produce a tolerable game for the re-release, even if it means a couple of years (gasp) with no FF7 material. I mean heck, the game that started it all had a slashed storyline due to rushed production - why let that happen again?

As much as a like a detailed universe, I really love games that leave some openings for the player to interprit. I realize that any one world could supply enough plot for a hundred games (hopefully not in FFVII's case pinch.gif ), but it's a lot more fun to play fresh worlds with new characters and storylines. That's why I wish that squeinx would just give it a rest: so they could move onto new games. I thought that vincent's backstory, along with the secret shinra force was interesting enough to earn a spin-off. fine. other than that, however, i can't see the need for any other spin-offs. Full, stand-alone games are just more interesting, as far as plot is concerned.

ANYWAYS, I certainly believe that squenix is going to make at least another big FFVII project before the final remake. Really, I don't understand why. Sure, they can still make money off of FFVII, but its squenix! They can make money off of just about any RPG they market. All these big, new names announced for the next year or two prove it.

Square has officially stated they're not done with FFVII for quite a while.

I hope they make a sequel to DOC, i just want to see more of Weiss and learn more about deepground, but if they do make it better be good, becuase theres a pretty good chance that it wont be.
even tho i want a sequel to DOC i hope they stop soon befor they just ruin the game.

I think really.. I would like to see it end where it's at. I did play DOC, but never finished it. I have yet to play CC but I would like to. If they make other games tied to it.. I personally don't see the big deal. I can treat it just like I do every new Mario that comes out and simply refuse to play it if it starts to get TOO old. Do I think Square-Enix is milking the FF7 name? Of course.. that's what makes money in the industry. It's there biggest one that I know of and since it came along at the perfect time to catch so many people they are gonna do what humans do. Try to get your money by making what they think you want.

all i want is for it to end so they can focus on other stuff. if they remade it for the ps 3, of course i'd buy it, but still...

Personally, if they do anything more to the series, I would like to see a Super Smash Bro.-esque fighting game that pits all the different characters against each other. I'd like to see Aeris, Yuna, Garnet and Rosa, all the little white mage girls, duking it out against each other. Or it could be the battle of the giant swords! Cock-fight anyone? Or a pitched battle between all the none human beasties, like Nanaki v/s Kimarhi. That's my dream game.I think it would be awesome.

You could even do team battles, like team 7 v.s team 8! Or team 4!

Honestly though, if they DO do another game based on 7, how bout we indulge in the history of how Jenova came to the planet, or the Wutai conflict? Perhaps if we don't keep making it about the same people, it would be better.

1) Dissidia (Fighting game involving FF characters from across the entire series) for PSP
2) Crisis Core (Game centered on Zack. Deals with parts of the Wutai war) for PSP
