thos are you choices take or leave them!
Moderator Edit OK, so there hasn't been a favorite esper topic in two years, and the last time there was one was before the GBA version came out, so we'll let that slide. I am removing the poll and changing your topic title, though, because neither make sense. -R51 This post has been edited by Rangers51 on 1st May 2008 11:10 -------------------- i swear she was over 18!*is getting drug away by soilders* i didnt know she was that young! |

Well because there are so many, it makes it almost hard to decide what one/ones are my favorite.
But i guess for ability or skill wise, then i'd have to say Bahamut and Diablos, cause they give u massive hp boosts -------------------- Kefka's Message of the week: Get off your couch noobs and get my new game Dissidia 012 |

The ones you have to work hardest for. e.g. Bahamut. I missed a lot of the good ones though.

Palidor/Quetzalli - I like the whole party jump. I think it's neat.
Terrato/Midgardsormr - Tis a snake. I like reptiles... I think it's adorable, basically. Crusader - Meteor. :'D Leviathan[GBA] - It's pretty. I rarely use espers, so I don't like 'em battle wise. Palidor! I love Palidor! The jump attack is just cool cause you can use it to avoid attacka that bosses charge up, (eg Goner) and also when you fight something like the Magic Master, who ues Ultima upon death, you can use Palidor just before his HP is at 0 (3000 or something) then one or two characters will drop down, he'll use ultima, killing off the characters on the ground, and the others will land safely without harm.
Also Phoenix, cause it's a bird, and I lik birds, both kinds ![]() -------------------- I'm not crazy, I'm just... Yeah, I'm crazy!!!! "You sound like lines from a self help book!" -Kefka |

I agree about Palidor. I like Alexander too. His attack reminds me of the Light of Judgement.

In terms of story, of course, Maduin. (as an aside, the only way I'd change the game would be if we could learn a little more about the back stories of some of the individual espers like we do with Maduin or Ramuh.)
Other than that, Crusader because of Merton. It is the coolest looking attack in the game - even though it can be annoying for obvious reasons. |

I like Shiva and Ifrit. And the Phoenix, of course, for the story behind it.

Palidor, It did some good damage when eveyone did a simultanious (sp?) jump (very helpfull when your under leveled in Cyan's dream area).. but bonus wise i would say Fenir (he's the one that gives about a 30% mp boost at level up right?) yeah... I only have the Psone version...so I get to miss out on the new ones...yay me

I'm gonna have to go with Odin here; beautiful sidequest with a great story (all his own, in fact!). Then he becomes Raiden in like five seconds (unless you stop to learn meteor with somebody 'cuz you're too impatient to wait for Crusader). Atom Edge!!!!
After that, my second-runner up would be the Paladin Shield, because it teaches you Ultima. ![]() |

For the looks (when used in battle), phoenix. For actual usefulness, I'd say Golem . As for the lore behind the esper, Odin would be my choice. And for stat boosts, I guess any esper that boosts strength or magic by 2 would do.
By the way, I was reminded: Midgardsormr is an esper that resembles a giant snake. In FFVII there was a swamp not far from the city, Midgar, where you'd be hunt down by giant snakes called "Midgar Zoloms". I'm not very good with FF timelines, so if anyone could confirm whether FFVIa was released before or after FFVIIus, that'd be great. |

FFVIa was released in 2007, Final Fantasy VII came out in 1997.

My favorite esper would probally have to be Giant Cactuar! He is AMAZING, first he's cool looking and second he lets and learn quick. I also liked Ragnorak cause it let you learn Ultima. It's power was also pretty funny: turn enemy into item (LOL).

Alexander, Bahamut, Phoenix and Odin have always been my favorites. I also remember Palidor was very helpful during my playthroughs because it teaches Haste and Haste 2.
I would also like to express my wish that FFXIII will return to the traditional summons that we all know and love, instead of new ones, or the summons from FFXII for that matter. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up!
