Out of nostalgia, I decided to bust out the SNES emulator and play through FF6. For some reason, this way around something has occurred that hasn't ever happened to me before, namely, Shadow for some reason just like bails and quits the team.
Thus far (in the WoB), he has bounced during the Sabin scenario whilst in the Haunted Forest (just before the Ghost Train ride) as well as in Zozo for (first visit). I don't really remember him bailing at these times, but it's been a few years. |

You're just remembering incorrectly (or, of course, you just happened to get pretty lucky with where he left), it happens at intervals every time he joins up in the WoB.

Aye, and I assume they are right, for I have played through it 2 1/2 times, and have yet to have him jump on me, So I can't say a defenite yes or no, but resetting before the battle and reloading might work, or just let him go, I never use his sneaky arse

there is a chance that shadow will ditch you, after every fight while he is in your party, during the first couple team-ups with shadow. One time he left after one or two fights, not even until I reached the desert outpost! I think he's bound to stay once he boards the ghost train, but immediately after, he might bail again while fighting-- There is supposedly a parameter to keeping him around, and if you keep him healed he's more prone to stick with you. Just save a lot when you get him, and reset if he bails (he won't necessarily take off again). And for god's sake, don't give him any really useful equipment!

i posit a theory
you pay for shadow, right? i've had him run out on me a couple of times: i believe it means that the money you paid for his services has been remade! otherwise players who weren't so good at keeping hold of their GOLD would find their funds being eaten everytime they came across the naughty ninja ![]() might not be completely right. for example, i'm pretty sure he can't leave you in critical sitauations, like in the middle of something like the haunted forest. but if you're just training, he can scarper, taking with him your equipment and if you get far enough and are, like me, stupid enough to give him the first esper you get, he may well rob one of your precious magictites!!! he's still fun though... and his doggie... i call him Harold -------------------- The Lemon of the Open Spoon awaits you at the Altar of The Chocolate Drum, in a world of Missed Calls, Deleted Messages, Late Buses and Cremated Toast "Due to budgetary concerns, the light at the end of the tunnel has been temporarily shut down" |

The problem with Shadow is his character seems to have a "random leave" button. I seemed to avoid this by making sure Shadow's character was in semi-good health. Plus if he dies in battle and you revive him he doesn't leave.
Of course if you have an emulator you can cheat out this problem by rewinding the game and doing something differently so he doesn't leave until he has to! ![]() -------------------- .¸•´¨¯¨*°•.,¸¸,•´¦♥¦`•,¸¸,.•°*¨¯¨´•¸.
