Disgracefuly the chances are high, I really expect FFVI to be on the PSP, before anyone says it isn't possible, a KH game is coming for the PSP, meaning that FFVI would have a slim possibility.

I'm not sure what to think.
I don't know if I'll ever be happy with a new version off ff6.
I loved the original. I know the translation was poorly done, but despite this, but after having played it so many times I'm not sure I care.
I still coax my snes into playing ff6. I would love to be able to play a new version my DS. But as I'm sure it'll have the same translation as the GBA version (aka the correct translation, I know!) I don't know how excited I'd be.
It makes me sad. Not only is it my all time favorite final fantasy, but it's my favorite game as well.

Anyway. I think it's possible/likely that they'll bring the VI on the DS, if they don't bring it out on another platform (I heard ps3?)
But This Guy Are Sick has a good point.

Eeeeh. I'll probably get the DS version anyway. I love the game too much. Hehe. Somehow my opinion changed while writing this.

I'd love to see a remake on PSP or DS..or anything for that matter. FFVI is my all time favorite game.

I don't see how this makes sense at all. Square-Enix develops for both systems, yes, but their Final Fantasy remakes have all, with the exception of Tactics, been aimed for the DS.

Kingdom Hearts is a completely different development team within Square and not subject to the same console licensing, so what happens to one does not give any indication of the other.

It's not that it isn't possible, it just doesn't seem all that likely. If it happens, which at this point is still very much a big "if", it'll almost certainly be for the DS.

I don't know where I stand on the 3D rendering of FFVI. I would hope, at least, they go with a design for characters that is slightly less "cute" and fits the characters and world a bit better. It worked for IV, but only just enough to be passable.

Honestly, I was surprised when they announced Chrono Trigger DS and ultimately, if I have to have one or the other, it'll be CT. I haven't given up hope that it could happen, but I'm not holding my breath either.

Well, and their 20th anniversary remakes for FF1 and FF2.

I don't think Squenix feels particularly constrained by what fans expect. If they make a remake of FF6, they'll put it out for whatever system they feel makes the best business decision. I'd sort of have to giggle if that were the PSP, but, well.

That's probably close to what it would be.

My opinion is that they will make it. It's really popular and they know that every one of us will buy it if they do.

I'm even considering buying a DS just for the game if they make it.

Well, I think the graphics should be like FFX or better. That'll do justice to it.

When it comes out, I hope (and think) they'll keep the "Forgiving Difficulty" that lets you hold onto EXP when you die.

who thinks, that when this game eventually comes around, it will ruin the game with voice acting, 3d graphics, extreme difficulty, and altogether ruin the story?

Considering how pathetically easy FFVI is, a higher difficulty level would be great news for me.

maybe, i think theres a possibility, but those things could make it better. its sort of 50/50.

concerning the ff4 remake, i still would rather play the original. so if they make a DS FF6 remake, i probably would be in the same boat. FF6 does not need to be remade on the DS.

Yeah, i'm always looking for new mods of the game that make it harder. The only thing i'm fearful in a remake is the graphics, which might look nice, but it won't have the animated sprite charm that we've all come to love.

All in all, if it does come out and it is butchered, i'll probably STILL buy it. I'm just saying.

I doubt it, but the IDS? Probably.

And it'd be nice of they retranslated it again, because the GBA translation was kinda iffy. Celestriads? C'mon, it's the Three Stars in all the other new games!

I don't think they'll put it on the DSi. The DS was already out when they were doing the remakes for the GBA, but they didn't stop halfway and start putting them on the DS, they finished up on the GBA.

Just like everyone else, I think they'll probably remake FFVI. And c'mon people, don't you trust Squenix? You think they'll give it the cutesy sprites? They should be able to see just as clearly as we can that the game needs more realistic sprites.

I'll agree with almost every comment here: it's not an 'if', it's a 'when'. I'm almost certain that the next remake of FFVI will be for the DS, just because the of the pattern of remakes thus far. I hope that this trend will eventually lead us to full-scale console remakes, though at the same time I'm skeptical whether a full remake will be able to retain the same feel.
