What's your favorite version of the Aria from FFVI? There's the GBA one, the SNES one, several Japanese versions including the one by the Black Mages, one performed in English, and I think one performed in Italian, too.

My personal favorite would have to be the twelve minute long English version or the one by the Black Mages. What about you guys?

I'd have to say the SNES one. I know there is something nostalgic about a videogame opera without real voices, and it captivated me with those high and low-pitched sounds that resembled operatic singing.

I agree with Harlequin. The SNES aria was the best. I heard the English aria and it doesn't sound like it's fit for an opera. The song felt like it was fit for a Broadway Musical.
But then again, I'm biased since I heard and fell in love with the SNES aria first! LOL

I think the GBA version was better than the SNES in my opinion,
because I could only imagine Maria/Celes having a much more higher-pitched and delicate voice than that of her SNES pitch,
especially on how she was represented to look like through Amano's art.
She didn't seem to look like she would have such a deep sounding pitch.

I agree, the black mages version was definitely the best, but i do agree there is still a nostalgic feeling to the SNES/PS! version of the opera

The Playstation 1 version, dunno if theres a differance though

I also prefer the original version. Of course, I've only played the PSX version, so this is with the assumption that the song wasn't changed from SNES to PSX.
