I've been thinking about posting this since the 80th Oscars. There have been a lot of favorite topics, and I've always thought of putting them together. And since I want to be a filmmaker, and a gamemaker also, I thought that it would be cool to make it like the Oscars. Here are the categories;
Best Picture: The best Final Fantasy Best Directing: Game with the best scenes Best Lead Actor: Best main or playable character (male or female) Best Supporting Actor: Best temporary or non-playable character (male or female) Best Screenplay: Game with the best story Best Script: Game with the best dialogue Best Cast: Game with the best characters Best Score: Game with the best music Best Visual Effects: Game with the best levels, areas, monsters, bosses, etc. Best Editing and Cinematography: Game that is the most cinematic or movie-like Edit Best Villian: Best main villian or final boss Best Supporting villian: Best minor villian or boss You don't have to answer all of them, but try to give your thoughts, and try to give runner-ups (or nominees). But most importantly, try to be objective and choose the best in each category. This post has been edited by BlitzSage on 17th March 2008 01:15 -------------------- |

Best Picture: FF III
Best Directing: FF VII Best Lead Actor: FF VII (for Sephiroth. he's such a bastard and momma's boy. Kinda like Norman Bates) Best Supporting Actor: FF I for Astos. Gotta love that goofy looking pushover Best Screenplay: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. I love the whole powerless feeling that the world is pretty much already over, but your people are just trying to cling to life Best Script: FF XII for me so far. I just think it was pretty well done and the voice acting wasn't annoying Best Cast: FF VI Best Score: FF VII Best Visual Effects: FF XII. Graphics were gorgeous. Best Editing and Cinematography: FF XII |

Here are mine.
Best Picture: FFVI Best Directing: FFVII Best Lead Actor: Cloud Strife, Sephiroth, and Kefka Palazzo Best Supporting Actor: Cid (General Leo runner-up) Best Screenplay: FFVI Best Script: FFVI Best Cast: FFVI Best Score: FFVII Best Visual Effects: FFIV Best Editing and Cinematography: FFXII I didn't realize how hard it would be to post on this topic and be objective. FFVII has some amazing music, even though my favorite is FFVI. I've always thought the areas in FFIV are great because you go underneath the earth, and then to the moon. Both General Leo and Cloud Strife are extremely popular, and they deserve awards(to me Cid wins though because he has been many different characters in most of the games). And no matter which one you like more, both Sephiroth and Kefka made their respective games. FFVI has the best story, dialogue, and cast; therefore is the winner of Best Picture. By the way, I'll make a Best Villian category to break up the category. -------------------- |

It wasn't supposed to be accurate, but the reason I did Best Script is because the script shows the dialogue. Best Cast was created from the Emmy's (I think) best ensemble. Mainly I just did it without trying to be accurate. It's really what's after the names that matter. This post has been edited by BlitzSage on 17th March 2008 21:28 -------------------- |

Best Picture: FF 6. (The second half of the game alone is absolutely raw brilliance, the other parts are pretty snazzy as well.)
Best Directing: FF 8 (The Laguna sequences, especially the first are flawless. Some of the early and most of the later Squall centered ones are either good.) Best Lead Actor: Basch - FF 12 (A knight throwing away pride and self-respect to protect the land he is hated in. Yet still retains honor. Well-played.) Best Lead Actress: Freya - FF 9 (Almost jinxed, as two kingdoms she swore to protect are destroyed, her love remembers her not. Direly serious and never partakes in the frivolous acts of the other characters. Too bad she's forgotten halfway through.) Best Supporting Actor: Dycedarg - FFT (Machiavellian mastermind unaware of the strings above him. His fatal flaw was knowing the worth of the family name, but instead of using it to further justice, he sought power.) Best Supporting Actress: Ovelia - FFT (Poor girl. Pawn. She then finds someone just as much of a pawn as her, and trusts him, even loves him. But in the end, you ask if she was still a pawn and wonder if Ivalice is that cruel.) Best Screenplay: FF 10 (Spira...is just so wrong. Almost like a horribly cruel Russian reversal that isn't funny at all.) Best Script: FF 8 (Squall's thoughts are occasionally rather insightful. His rare doubting and opening up are superb. Laguna is a fool yet endearing. The others aren't bad enough to ruin this.) Best Cast: FF 6 (Ensemble! Some love being the hero. Some are tragic. Some are mysterious. Some are in just for the fun. Every character gets at least a little screen time. Each gets some depth, sometimes on screen, sometimes off. It has a flamboyant hobo and a evil clown in Gogo and Kefka respectively. Shadow falls asleep and ditches during the opera...10 game play hours later or so, he risks his life to stop a insane villain...think about it.) Best Score: FF 6 (They wrote a freaking opera. Give that man the ten thousand dollars!) Best Visual Effects: FF 7 (From dystopia to dying mining towns, amusement parks to creepy mansions, space to deep in the earth. All the while fighting everything from Military Police to possessed scales and crazy bikers.) Best Editing and Cinematography: FF 12 (I have no further comments.) Best Villian: Vayne - FF12 (An especially harsh Machiavellian plotter in need of a haircut, determined to bring Ivalice under one banner, and under the shadow of his iron fist. He does this not with divine gifts, but with mankind's own strength. Also, he does take you on with his BARE HANDS.) Best Supporting villian: Hojo - FF7 (Nihilistic scientist willing to sacrifice the woman who loved him and the entire world...just so he can try and 'out-science' a better scientist and far better man.) This post has been edited by Kylerocks on 26th March 2008 06:54 -------------------- Really Random Quote of the Day: "Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war." - Richard M. Her storyline with Kefka and Locke towards the end of WoB takes center stage, and she is the main character of WoR, at least at first when it's still linear. As for Locke, with his large amount of dialogue and relationships with Terra and Celes, he could be considered a main character. Edit I do agree she is the main main character, because she drives the story, but Celes and Locke are still leading characters at one point or another.
