I've loaded a few ps1 games on to my psp. They've all worked fine except for metal gear solid. All the voices are sped up and don't make since most of the time. Does anyone know what could be wrong? I think it might be the clock speed, but if anyone knows anything let me know.

Yes, ma'am.

Firmware is 3.90 M33-2 and I don't use a game player, I convert my games into PBP files then drag and drop onto my mem stick.

I'm pretty sure that version of M33 still uses popsloader. The version of pops has to be changed to play certain games.

See this thread at exophase if you're not sure what I'm talking about or how to get it. Generally speaking, exophase is a great site for learning how to do things on your PSP. The people on the forums are extremely helpful.

The above process might sound like a lot of work, and it sort of is, but if you just follow the steps, you'll be fine. Certain games absolutely require certain versions of pops to play. For instance, Parasite Eve II is all screwed up under most of the versions, and Suikoden II freezes under everyone but 3.02 or something.

Here's a partial list of what games need what pops, but a lot of them say the game works when a specific glitch actually breaks it later unless you're using the right pops. If it mentions a specific pops version, use it; if it says it works fine no matter what, take that with a grain of salt. I think I remember reading that MGS requires pops version 3.10.

You're also going to need to follow these instructions to work around some of the game-specific issues in MGS, like disc-changing. I've also "heard" of a patch that will convert your two separate eboots into one eboot and eliminate the problem, but I can't find any links to it that aren't links to bad things like torrents. Google should help you out here.

Anyway, get popsloader and try running the game with a few different versions of pops. I hope that fixes your problem. If not, I suggest exophase. I don't actually own this game, so I can't test it out on mine and fiddle around with things.
