I've never played the PSP version so I dont know but I heard that the Dark Knight functions a liitle bit like an Undead unit. Is this true?

No, a Dark Knight functions just as every other class in the game does, they just have powerful abilities and are difficult to acquire access to. They are not hurt by healing or lose control in battle.
