Does anyone have any tips for breeding? I'm trying for a red chocobo, but just can't hatch one, do I need both black and yellow? just black? do they need to be a certain level? Or should I just find one and catch it?
If there is a guide to breeding tips, could you tell me? -------------------- "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter, don't mind." -Dr. Seuss |

I believe it's just random. Just find a place that has two non-fighting places next to it and take all the time you need.

also, you only need 1 monser to get another. kinda weird. -------------------- "Life: The deepest cut that wilt not heal. Fore it bleeds on and on as if an eternity. yellow chocobo can't lay red eggs. Hence you should just have one or more black chocobos and luck. I believe eggs appear and hatch when you walk around, so that's what you should do.
For some reason, i find the flying ability of a black chocobo more appealing than the red chocobo nuking to be honest. If you want nuking you're better off with a generic character. -------------------- All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Broccoli to die. |

One general rule is that no monster can breed higher then one above it's current "class" in this case, yellow, black, then red (red being the highest class). So what ganolink said about yellows not being able to lay red eggs is really that they can lay any color eggs, but what actually hatches won't be anything besides a yellow or black (the egg color means nothing). Keep the black, ditch the yellow, and wait until you get that red (and a red will produce black, yellow and reds, randomly) Now, if you wanna poach these red chocobos up, (if you're after barrettes, rare poachable item) this actually isn't a bad idea early on in the game; any female monks you have can gain an extra piece of equipment that blocks a bunch of status effects. Have fun, yo!
And yes, they are born to one parent (weird!) from walking around on the map (between two towns is the best-- like they said, brotha') also, this page has a good poaching list: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/game/197339.html This post has been edited by Calculate_Death on 9th June 2008 10:06 |

I'm not after either, I'm just breeding to get poach material, also, until I get more special characters, I'm still using Boco when my generics are out on Prepositions Btw, Thx Calc-Death, I'll look at it.
