this is an....odd little game called metroid cubed. it is basically a 3D-ish metroid. it is the exact same as metroid one, but you pretty much start off with everything, you are in 3-D, and you can drop yourself anywhere in the map with a click of a button. i personally prefer the original, but this is worth a looksy This post has been edited by dont chocobos rule? on 24th May 2008 06:27 -------------------- Aujourdhui a commence avec toi. |

I tried it out, and while the 3.d effect does seem kind of impressive at first, it gets annoying VERY fast. It's just like the 3-d part has no point, as the game doesn't have any depthy anyway. The camera angle is just worse than the original ;p

I agree with Ganolink. It is visually impressive but not very practical. It just strains my eyes, really. It's not terrible, but it is frustrating when enemies can attack you from several screens away due to the camera tilt. Example: on my way to Kraid I was going through those narrow rooms with the lone big bug that jumps around. No problem. A pro button masher can kill them np. However, because of the screen tilt (rather, the 3-D view), enemies from two screens below me were able to see me. They just happen to be those infinitely-spawning bugs that come from the pipes and lava. So yea, on a few occasions I would be playing through and then just randomly get ambushed by some bugs from way below me. Not very fun.
It does look nice for a minute or two, but I am not going to attempt to play it. -------------------- Is PJ |

Quote (Narratorway @ 24th May 2008 12:11) Yeah first, an isometric view is not 3D and second, what they said. my mistake...but yeah. my friend showed it to me and i thought it was a bit interesting, but i like the original better... -------------------- Aujourdhui a commence avec toi. |

It's still a really neat concept. If you were able to tilt it to not quite an extreme of angle, it might be a bit more fun, either way, what a concept!
I'd love to see an isometric view of the original Zelda game, as that would actually be a pseudo-3D, as the world is planar, just viewed from the top down. Neat friggin Concept, but the warping thing makes it too easy, as I just clicked and dropped into the Item collection rooms... -------------------- If internal struggles were as enjoyable and glamorous as the self conflicted wars within video game characters, we would all be statues, reveling in perpetual self war. -Me Play me on Rock Band 2, GH-WT, or any other Xbox GH!
