Kingdom Hearts in FF7

FF7 came out like a decade before Kingdom Hearts, but... has anyone else noticed the reference to KH in FF7? Like they had the idea for KH for a long time before they made it maybe?
If you go back to Mideel after the quake, when it's a mako pool and the town's in ruins, there's a lady there that says something like "My husband's been missing since the earthquake. I wonder if he went through that strange door and ended up in another country? Or was that just a dream?" I don't remember the exact words but it was something like that. Do you guys think that's really a reference to Kingdom Hearts, or just a coincidence? It seems like a rather odd thing to say if it doesn't mean something in particular. |

There are a hundred million other things it could be a reference to. Tactics, Narnia, anything with that sort of thing in it. The locked door was just painted on. The odds of it being a deliberate reference to anything to start with are slim to nil, and to think it a reference to Kingdom Hearts five years early is a drive all the way into the zone of improbability.

Yea, I was kinda thinking that myself a little. I still think it was a reference to something. I can't think of any other reason to have an npc randomly say something that weird.

But yeah I hate when an NPC says somethin real cryptic and random cos I'll spend half the game thinking that its something relevant and important but it never is. -------------------- *Sigh*....Times are tough |

I highly doubt it, honestly. Square isn't the type to reference another game, especially if the games release dates were a decade apart.

I would like to point out that Tactics Advance was a huuuuge reference to FFXII a good five years early. |
