What happens to a character that gets fully sucked in by Atomos (barrier tower boss)? As in, do you lose them forever?

You just lose them for the duration of the battle, same as with zone eaters in FF6 and similar enemies.

Its also quite similar to the Sneeze attack that some monsters do in FF 6.

Not to mention the bouncing devil sheep of FFIX. Sneeze type attacks are so annoying.

that bouncing sheep on ff9is called yan. it is supposedly the most powerful normal enemy on ff9, and is really annoyin. u wud prob b lucky 2 b blown away by sneeze rather than bein slowly killed off by the yans. worst thing is that they can b in packs
