Which female character in FF7 would be the perfect girlfriend for Cloud ? I personally would like to see Tifa and Cloud together...they would be a lovely couple.

Tifa, it just seemed like it should be that way since they were kids. Everyone always overlooks it though, because Aeris is "nice" and Tifa is a "skank". I disagree.

Tifa and Cloud had better chemistry as well methinks.

Oh, Tifa, no question. The way my game went, I ended up getting the date with Aeris because I wasn't really trying for anyone in particular, and it was all nice and sweet, and then after *you-know-what* happened, I imagined that Cloud was all sad and mourning for a while, but then realized that there was this other girl who had been with him the whole time--right in front of his eyes, and he'd never even seen it. The clincher came when Tifa was resting her head on Cloud's shoulder right before everybody was going to go into the Northern Cave, and she said, "Let me stay like this for just a few more minutes..." So cute. Awwwww.

Is it just me, or do a lot of Japanese games (and anime, for that matter) have this thing where, if you're the hero's childhood friend, there's no way it's ever going to work out between you two? That always sort of bugged me. The two big examples are FFVII and Legend of Dragoon. I don't know if it's the hero just being idiotic and thick-skulled, or if it's the girl being way too shy and just as idiotic, but I don't like it either way.

Would it be too much to ask for the hero to go, "You know what, Tifa/Shana/whoever? We've known each other for a long time, and we've stuck together through thick and through thin. I really think it would be great if we just admitted our feelings for each other right now, and avoid all this embarrassing mincing around." And then the girl can go, "You know what, Cloud/Dart/whoever? That's a GREAT idea." And that would be that! And they'd be a couple from that point on! No muss, no fuss! Wouldn't that be refreshing?

Okay, I'm done ranting now. You can take your earplugs out.

Tifa gets my vote.  Childhood-friends-turned-lovers is cute.

Also, I never thought of Tifa as a 'skank'...maybe it's just me...

Tifa, without a doubt, for reasons already stated above.

Slow down your unexpected bandwagon, members, I'm jumping on.

I never really understood why people thought Tifa was slutty and all.  Well, alright, look at the way she's dressed, but she's clearly a lot more shy with Cloud than Aeris is, who actually acts quite forwardly with him.

Aeris is sweet in her own way, and important, and finally heroic and all, but Tifa always seemed more like Cloud's girl.

At least, the real Cloud's girl.  We know Aeris used to date Zack, and the more of Zack Cloud has in his personality, the more I feel he is matched with Aeris.  Once he's fully himself again, there's no question (not that there's much choice either, by then).

Though if you look at the Gold Saucer date mechanics, Aeris has a 50-30 lead over Tifa starting the game.  So you're "meant" to date Aeris there by default, but that doesn't necessarily mean she was the right girl, still.

I would say Tifa. Although Aeris flirts with him a lot, I think Cloud looks more towards her as a sister, who he needs to protect, and who he of course

I think Tifa matchs better, they combine very well, but Aeris is prettier than her, i think she is a good date, but she dies, and Yuffie is a pratically a kid, but here´s my question: What happens on the date with Barret?? Has anyone tried it??

On Barret's date, you walk in and the guy yells "You are our 100th couple! Oh, no you're not." Then you two leave and go on the ride where you get to see the whole park from above. Barret's mostly quiet, but keeps thinking about his daughter.

Pretty much. It basically consists of being horrible to Tifa and Aeris as much as you can, not getting Yuffie until after the date (ideally) and agreeing with Barret wherever you can, and being nice to Marlene (give her the flower you can buy from Aeris early on, for example).

I... don't really think Barret is best for Cloud, though.

Yuffie and Barret are difficult to get. In fact, you will not get them unless you purposely do it. GameFAQs has an extensive guide on the scoring of it, and a step-by-step guide on how to get both of them.

I always used to be 100% for Aeris and Cloud, but I'm not so sure anymore. I think Aeris might be the heroine but Tifa the one who gets the guy. Kinda like in VI where Terra is theoretically the heroine but Celes ends up with Locke. I can see arguments for both sides though.

Originally Tifa didn't even exist in the game and Aeris was the only lady that had to be in your party.
Tifa spends most of the game lieing to Cloud - she did know about his past but didn't tell him.
Cloud has always had a thing for Tifa, and even tried to join SOLDIER to impress her.
He stayed at AVALANCHE just for her.
He did his best to keep their childhood promise.
Tifa is able to help Cloud find his true self.

That night when they didn't think anyone else was there and Tifa's reaction when she found out the others had been able to see her and Cloud...
