I'm working on some FF VII Role-Playing stuff and I would just like to get some input on which town(s) is/are most popular. Help me get a good idea on what the average fan thinks.
Personally my favorites are Nibelheim, Gongaga, and Corel because there is history of tragedy in all three that can really lead to some interesting story arcs. Let me know what you think ![]() |

I voted Midgar. It's a gigantic city, essentially the size of sixteen small towns (each of the eight slums were once separate towns, and now they each have a sector above them). From a roleplaying perspective, thats a huge amount of potential storyline areas.

For me, it was a tie between Rocket Town and Midgar. But, I went with Rocket Town for the only reason is that where I get my fav character in the game, CID!

But I do think that Corel, Nibelheim, and Gongaga could have interesting story arcs. -------------------- |

I had initially started with ideas for Midgar, but decided that for the moment, Midgar is too large a city for me to use. I kinda like the small town feel of Nibelheim and Corel, and Gongaga and the have good wilderness in the area. Corel and Nibelheim with mountains and Gongaga with forests.
Then again, Midgar could have a kind of "urban wilderness" thing with alleyways, slums, and roving gangs and vermin |

I liked Cosmo Canyon the best, very cool place and the music was great...both creepy and hopeful at the same time. Plus Red's mission is there which was a fun one and you could get some good items both on the mission and in town. Rocket Town, Junon and Costa del Sol were are a lot of fun too...darn I need to break out this game and play it again!
If Midgar is too big for your rpg try just using Junon instead. ![]() (my wink smilie looks like he's having a stroke lol) This post has been edited by Dragoon Lance on 17th April 2008 05:53 |

I think Midgar is where my campaign is going to start, but I think Nibelheim will be the next leg of it. Anybody have any good ideas on which slums to use just post here or pm me. I'm thinking Wall Market is an obvious one

My favourite is Cosmo Canyon, its such a cool town and different from the other ones, plus the music sounds kinda like a sublime song... Then again Rocket Town is awesome too. Love Cid and Red. XD

Mideel has always been my favorite, closely followed by Gongaga. I like the tropical feels.
I'm currently DMing an RP at the FF7Citadel which started in Mideel. Its pretty good, though we don't have a whole lot of people. -------------------- I'm a little Wombat, short and stout Here is my tail and here is my snout But if you get me angry and I start to snarl WATCH OUT OR I'LL BITE YOU'RE HEAD OFF!!! |

Nibelheim for me. It's where the bulk of the story-line centers around as well as insights into Cloud and Zack's sad past via clues remnant in Shinra Manshion.

Midgar because its basically the most coolest town/city in all the FF Games. Music helps too.

I thought Rocket Town seemed very peaceful. No high population, smog, plates, or slums at all...

I voted Midgar as well.. It has a run down sci-fi feel to it. The music there is excellent as well. I think the idea for Midgar in general was well thought out and put together. I do really like Nibelheim also. All considering, the mansion and the story that goes along with the reactor in Mt. Nibel.

Nibelheim all around rocks, but I like Corel as well and I see that seems to be the only town not getting any love lol. That's a shame. Midgar is great, but I think there is just too much going on there for most campaigns. I've been working on a Nibelheim/Mt. Nibel scenario that's coming along nicely. I might do Rocket Town next, since it's on the other side of Mt. Nibel, but I'll have to see

I picked Cosmo Canyon.
I love Cosmo Canyon to peices. There's so many confusing hidden little bits and The music is awesome. I love the part of the game where you have to go through the cave. Possible spoilers: highlight to view and seto is at the end, that bit made me go "aaaaw!" -------------------- Nasty Tonberry! Kill It quick! WTF?! |

I voted Cosmo Canyon for the music, plain and simple. I go there just to sit there and listen to the music.
However, there are some other towns I like for a RPing aspect. Midgar: It's so BIG! There could have been so many other stories it it, and how the normal civilians were affected by the Jenova War makes for some good ideas. Nibelheim: The mansion could go for some great stories, and Possible spoilers: highlight to view could make for some GREAT plotlines.the whole town cover-up thing Wutai: HELLO. The whole war thing? Great plot-fodder. -------------------- I'm Kitty....of the Turks. 'Angel of Death in A Blue Suit.....' I AM A VINCENT FANGIRL. HEAR ME ROAR. |

Kalm... hello its where you get the master Materia...
then Gold Saucer...you get some great stuff there...and who doesnt love speed square...along with all the chocobo prizes the underwater places like the reactor.. that was fun...same with the sunken ship great leveling place, a cash cow like no other and morphing takes on a whole new importance here Nibelheim...Clouds hometown...enough said...(where you get Vincent) Wutai...that was a really fun place even without materia...getting leviathan was a fun sidequest...not to mention ridiculously easy...double cut plus the conformer...its almost unnecessary Gongaga... Zacks hometown Midgar... just an awesome place..love the music Northern Cave... everyone can fugure that one out Temple of the ancients... that was just plain fun Bone Village...you get some sweet stuff there.. forgotten capitol...also just loads of fun Great Glacier...who didnt love that Junon...it was good when you had to story line it...beyond that..not much redeeming value..cool music otherwise? Costa Del Sol was cool...you get Clouds Villa at the end... it had a funny story plot...i really like just hagin around here for some reason northern Corel one of my more favorite places to chill for music...same with cosmo canyon the secret forest....also a good level up place with good stuff...and i thought personally it was one of the most fun and creative places in the game Mideel...this one probably should have been more on the top...oh well...great story line here...and great stuff... who didnt love the contain materia? that and the Crystal stuff aboard the highwind...nobody thought of this one? shocking round island...DUH Rocket town...this was a fun little place too bad they didnt spend more time in/on it... Mount Nibel/ Mythril mines...this place was pretty awesome... good music and amazing story plot place... loved this area weapon sellers house...you get great Gospel...beyond that...pointless and the guy is kind of a jerkoff sleeping man cave...connection to getting G.G.? Fort condor... you get Phoenix....its pretty much one of the most importnat places in the game yet since we harldly spent any time here it has to rank less...unfortunate just like Rocket town Icicle Village...good story if you look around the places for the extra stuff in the scientists logs Chocobo sages house...he always gives me a chuckle Chocobo farm...this is probably not only the last place i havent covered on the map but also...other than breeding your Gold Chocobo of justice...no the crappy desert rose gift one... it is a completely pointless place...music is kinda relaxing but this place sucks otherwise |

Not much support for Wutai here
![]() I love it: it looks so different from anywhere else on the map; the sidequest with Yuffie, the Turks and that fat pervert running around in the mountains is awesome; it's miles from the actual storyline. Which may make it more interesting than the obvious places. ![]() |
