Personally, I found Final Fantasy 6 to be the best game in the series, Final Fantasy 6 was a very emotional game.

I think the fact that 6 is such an emotional game is testament to its greatness.

I dont generally cry with games or movies or anything, but VI is the closest I've ever gotten. If I had played it all through without big gaps I probably would have cried in parts, except after Floating Continent I stopped for about a month or two. But yeah, some parts are really really sad and emotional. So good tongue.gif

FF6 is most certainly a much more emotional game than FF7. I mean, I like them both, but the story and the horrible things that happen in FF6 make it much more personal, where FF7 seems to actually want to make things impersonal. The only one-person death that doesn't feel cheapened is Aeris. Not many mourn Tsuno or Cait Sith, I notice...

...where General Leo is given less screen time than Leo and yet his death seems much more personal and emotional because they let his death be noted after the Esper attack.

Both 6 and 7 have their moments, but I think for me, because I'm more attached to 6, it is more emotional.

It was long time ago since I played it the last time but now when I got to Kohlingen it was hard when I saw the bad story about Rachel...

This is may also because know I am 18 and not 14, so I may will feel more emotional.

Yeah I guess it's that way since you can understand it now. I'm 18 too and I felt the same way about it when I was younger.

Oh man, I cried big-time at the end. I still get a funny feeling listening to the credits song. But I have a soft spot for endings. The theme was really what did it; when they played Terra's, all those long treks across the bright World of Balance, and all those moments of her wondering who she was came back to you. When they played Edgar's, I remembered his brave sacrifice with the coin and two brothers who went through so much hardship together. When Celes' played, I remembered the opera and how the words almost (to me) seemed to fit with herself and Locke's relationship. I am very fond of all the characters and that just brings it back to you - and knowing that it's over, that yeah, they're gonna be okay now - it really does something to you.

Aside from that, I also cried when everyone got off the train, and teared up a bit during the opera. Such a powerful scene!

The opera was only performed in English ONCE. T_T

I think it's cool when they put the FF theme song in the ending. It automatically makes me feel nostalgic about the entire series.

This game makes me laugh AND cry, lol!

But basically any scene that cues up the opera music qualifies.

And Leo for sure.

THIS. I still can't quite believe how a single piece of music can elicit so many emotions from me - hearing the Opera or the version played outside the inn in Albrook still give me shivers just from a few notes.

6 and 8 had the best music composition of all the games. It can stirr emotions.

The great part about 6 is that it has ALOT of character depth. Did I ever cry? No.

Several times... sleep.gif

1. In the WoR when I saw the state of Narche
2. In the WoB when Lock tries to talk to Celes before the boat ride
3. In the end when they show Shadow
4. In the end when they show Lock and Celes
5. In the VERY end with the continuous scene and the playing music.

Yeah, I feel like a baby. BUT THE MUSIC MADE ME DO IT!!! blush.gif

I don't feel right when i let him die, too.
But the scenes that got me to half cry was seeing that no one was living in Narshe any more. almost cried, thinking. "Where did Banon, Arvis and every one go!?" It sadden me...
Then it would be that Terra's parents died... *Cry*

I actually am so glad that I didn't cry that much while playing FF6, because I cried like ten thousand babies fresh from the birth canal when I finished FF7. Just the sound of the prelude playing and that screen of the stars just passing by...I was just absolutely moved to bits. It was like a train hit me. I knew it would come, so I did 10+ hours of sidequests, but I didn't think it'd hit me so hard... finishing such an amazing game (it was the first real game I ever really played).

But for FF6, I thought the final battle was hella better than in FF7.
So I finished FF6 with a very good impression.
I didn't cry when the screen said "THE END," but I did shed a few tears thinking about it the next day..

Otherwise, I didn't cry at anything. Yay! Huge improvement for me.
There were still a lot of sad parts.

6 definitley.

most people dont recognise half the deaths in 7, like clouds/barretts group at the start. the only actual recognised death is aeries.

in 6, the starting theme when you load the game up is very touching (whats it called? ive been wanting to know for a while).
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
and also, after the group gets split up, finding Locke again.

and they notice the deaths of Rachel and general leo and cyans family

Only game i truely shed a tear for was in Final Fantasy X at the very end when
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Yuna ran to hold Tidus and instead fell right through him onto her knees. Music helped a lot, but the scene really tore me up inside. It only happened the first time through the game though.

There was one moment in FF VI that choked me up a little, when you first get your new airship in WoR, and the music changes to the new overworld theme. What can i say, musical scores are what touch me more than anything. Its hard to get all emotional over a picture, especially 16bit pixelated pictures with bad english translations.

Moderator Edit
Please do not EVER spoil the ending of a game, especially in a thread about a DIFFERENT game!

He transformed into magicite, but it's still pretty sad, because he was gone from his home and separated from his family.

I'm starting to feel heartless; I never cried at any of these numerous sad moments.

To all you guys who say it's all in the music - I definitely agree. There are many emotional moments in the game, but what makes them so powerful in my opinion is the music to accompany the scenes.

I'm with crying at the end of the game - I cried when I beat FFVI. I couldn't believe it was over, but at the same time I was happy I completed it.

When you beat Kefka and he deteriorates, that was so sad....I felt so bad for poor Kefka, he finally had everything and then...it was all gone....

J/K. I don't think I ever actually cried, but I came kinda close when Cyan's family and friends all died, and in the scene where Cid dies.

Cyan's family was pretty well done, but Celes' attempted suicide is probably the closest I got.

Rachel didn't really... I thought that whole thing was creepy and didn't really find a connection with Locke there.
