Came across this review and couldn't stop laughing. This is a fair but HILARIOUS review of FF8, especially when talking about the game's low points. It really sums up, IMO, why this is the worst game in the series (though the reviewer seems to think FF2 holds that title). This post has been edited by MetroidMorphBall on 10th April 2010 18:37 |

And I'd say that II was the worst, easily, then, to be honest, probably XII. VIII wasn't great by any means, but it still felt like a Final Fantasy game, which I felt that XII lacks. -------------------- "If art doesn't risk upsetting expectations and challenging its audience, it can only stagnate." |

That was a brilliant analysis of a less-than-brilliant game. I had more fun reading the analysis than I did playing the game. I respect the position Square was in at that point, but I feel they tried to innovate in too many technical aspects, leaving little time to develop a coherent story.

I liked the justifications he made for it, and the trapped-in-room bit was classic. More than anything though I really enjoyed his breakdowns of the pros and cons of the characters. I felt that was his most objective and his most amusing bit.
Would be interested to see his reviews of other games. -------------------- I fear my heart and fear my soul Life goes on, it surely will, Without me and I wonder: Will I ever see light again? Life goes on... |

I finally beat ff2 for the nes and 3 so update coming:
FF3 nes:Not that bad system. The improvement of auto targeting system was a much needed improvement. The music was pretty good in ff3 for the nes and i must admit that some of those pieces of music were really nice. honorable mentions: The calm town music of the very first town you start in The world map piece. The prologue piece There is another really nice town theme that i cannot recall, but i will update this again. Yeah i like some of the ff3 nes themes more than ff2 nes themes. And i think that they did a better job with the spirte system in ff2 nes. They just used some of the same sprites in ff1 nes. The only thing that was annoying in ff3 was 2 things: 1:You cannot run away at all 2:If you try to run away, you are penalized by having your defense taken away and therefore the attacks hurt you a lot more. This did not make sense and really was unforgiving. Anyone here like zack fair of ff7 crisis core? I thought he was actually a good character. I don't know if i ever mentioned it but i will just in case. -------------------- We are stardust. Our bodies are made from the guts of exploding stars. Neil Degrasse Tyson. |

XI.
They just completely forgot about the fact that this was Final Fantasy, not Everquest. -------------------- The meaning of life is life itself. We were put on this earth to follow our dreams unabated. |

I would say FF8 had awful gameplay, although the story was great really.
Other than that perhaps FF2 due to short length and really broken level system. |
