Seriously. It has practicly been blizzarding for about 3 days straight, and it is FREEZING. Early December and already busses had to be closed because of the conditions. This is probably going to be the coldest winter we've had for awile.

So what's the weather like where other people live?

I keep hearing about how much snow Canada is getting, now that I'm in MD again. There's no snow here at all, and it rained yesterday. I'm so jealous. Not that I want a 3-day blizzard or anything, but some snow would be nice.

It's 8C right now, and it's only 9:23am. Way too warm to snow.

Virginia had a summer of record rainfall in 2006, and now we have a spring/summer/fall of record drought in 2007. But weather here gets so screwy we could probably have a record blizzard next April or something....

In the Windy City, we had snowfall last weekend, but it rained Sunday, so there's some ie on the streets that haven't been salted, like ours. Not much more snow is left, but that's gonna' change before too long. I don't like drvin' in snow, but I love snow at Christmastime!

Here in Nebraska, we had Freezing Rain. everything was a solid sheet of ice. There were Icicles on power lines from the rain hitting them. The entire city of Lincoln iced over in a period of about 8 hours.

I have a Miata, and it sucked to drive to work, since there is no traction in a light car like a miata in the first place. sad.gif

Today tho, its Sunny, 47 degrees F, and more like light-jacket fall weather than winter.

It will probably swap between those two a few more times before christmas. Nebraska weather is the dumbest (not worst, just dumbest) in the world.

It snowed here in washington a few days ago, but it's melted for now. As for the temperature it's been balancing between somewhere 20 and 40 degrees. And if the wind keeps up the power will go out pretty soon. sad.gif

Grim bits of rain and a cold that's not cold enough for snow (just to be frustrating). I remember last winter hearing that it was going to be the whitest the world has ever known, and then there were grim bits of rain and a cold etc etc. I'm not holding out for much else.

My Finnish ex now works back at her home in Lapland - the Santa place. She says it's common to wear five layers (not including thermals) and to protect your face from the cold whenever you leave the house. I think that's a bit too far, but Canada sounds like a good middle ground.

Light snow about a week ago melted, then BOOM!...it came down in droves. Not exactly arctic tundra, but with the weather Sasketchewan's crapping on us lately (it's supposed to be freezing sleet tonight), at year's end we might be pretty thick in it. Never know with Montana -- sometimes it snows twice in October then nothing until April/May.

Where I live in New York, we've gotten a 2 hour delay for schools cause of freezing rains, and as of now there's just been some light flurries.

Here in VA, we dont get snow until around January. The last "white" christmas I remember was 10 years ago, a couple days after an ice storm

Last year we hardly got any snow the entire winter.

It's snowing outside right now, and to think a mere five hours ago I was outdoors doing some observations for my astronomy class. Good thing I didn't schedule lab time for tonight, heh....

Warsaw looks like an early spring at the moment. We had some snow, but it didn't last long. I hate snow, by the way, unless I can stay at home the whole winter. Unfortunately, I can't.

Ontario has snow up to the gills, and more on the way. Woo! I like my Christmas' white, and after last year's complete failure to provide, I'm looking forward to this one twice as much.

And snow days. Sweet everloving snow days. Anyone else still young enough to enjoy these?

Montreal has been a snowy mess for the last few days and apparently it's only going to get worse in the coming week, which is considerably worse when your city workers don't do anything in terms of clearing the streets and public places.
At any rate, I'm hoping we get most of our snow fall out of the way now and maybe fall in for an earlier Spring.

I'm pretty miserable in the winter, I mean, I hate snow and it gets unbearably cold here, which makes me just want to stay inside and not actually do anything. At least, not while I'm still sober enough to feel the cold wink.gif

I was warned by everyone and their brother to expect a long and brutal winter when I moved to Boston. Thus far, we've had a total of about five hours of snow, and it's above 40 today, which means most of it will be gone by the time I actually set foot outside.

I hope I'm not jinxing myself to receive feet of snow just before I leave to go home for Christmas, but so far, Boston has been a giant "meh" in terms of winter weather.

Wednesday morning - 30 degrees, more than an inch of snow on the ground

Saturday morning - 55 degrees, almost zero snow anywhere

No snow, but it has been raining a bit lately down here in AZ (which is a pleasant surprise, at least for me). It's been getting down into the 50s in the mornings, which is pretty chilly by Arizona standards.

Up here in the fantastic wasteland that is North Dakota, it's 9 below at the moment, and we have a good amount of snow (1.5 feet?) on the ground. Thankfully, it's not supposed to snow again until late next week.

It's not so much that I hate snow... it's more dealing with crappy roads and equally crappy drivers. I can't count the number of times some jerkoff has insisted on going at least 15 miles over the speed limit when the road is completely covered in ice, and almost slid into me.

It rarely gets lower than 40 here, and that's "bad." I'll be back in the northeast soon though, so I'm sure I'll be singing a very different tune in a few days.

Having been to LA, I would have to say that your weather is all you have going for you. smile.gif

We got a quarter inch of ice last night. Not enough to make things bad, just annoying. And, of course, it's going to be back in the mid-40s again tomorrow, so, who cares?

I'm less than two weeks away from either having to drive through Buffalo or through lower NY on the way home, though. This is going to be a miserable call to make - if I go the northern route, I have to skirt Great Lakes (and any associated Lake Effect snow) for 800 miles; if I go south, I have no good place to stop overnight unless I go completely through Pennsylvania first. :\
