This thread is dedicated to the various pics I draw, whether from a story I'm writing or just a fanpic. Please feel free to criticize my work as hard as you want, as that's the only way I'll improve.
![]() This first pic is a Bangaa trickster from FFTA2, which is one of my favorite classes in the FF series. This post has been edited by Auragaea on 18th October 2014 19:59 -------------------- And don't drive your car off a cliff like I did. Girl, no man is worth 10 points on your license. |

The Bangaa is an amazing picture, and reminds me of the image of a bangaa that appears at the start of FFTA (when theyre reading the book).
And yes, youre being too hard on yourself. She may not quite look 19, but the combination of thin legs and mysterious pupil-less eyes reminds me of an Elf-ish character. All three actually look really good, but something about the 2nd guy strikes me as odd...maybe its the frock-thing under his chin. -------------------- <DrkMagimaster282> MWAHAHA. I think the thing is that her legs are insanely long, and her knees are too far up her leg. I don't think her eyes are on the same level, either. I think she looks quite young, for she lacks wrinkles and other attributes that are associated with older women.
That is one cool Bangaa you drew. I like the clothing on the second man, save for that headpiece that looks like a jet-pack. What is that? -------------------- |

Love the bangaa.
For the other two I'd say you need to work on your anatomy. Particularly your hands. Maybe spend some time drawing your non-dominant hand. Least that's what I did. As for the clothing on those two characters I think they look pretty good. Rather inventive. -------------------- -- You're Gonna Carry That Weight -- |

I like the long legs. They don't look realistic, but they go well with the rest of the body. However, I agree that you need to work on your anatomy. Also... the faces are flat, I think they'd look much better if they were a little more detailed.
That's it. The bangaa is spot on. Alluring too. ![]() -------------------- Random game quote of the day: "Wilt thou change this world... Or wilt thou change thyself?" (Water Dragon, Chrono Cross) |

Quote All three actually look really good, but something about the 2nd guy strikes me as odd...maybe its the frock-thing under his chin. As I said, that guy's clothes were inspired from the clothes worn during colonial times so I guess that's why it seems odd. It's actually a lace neckerchief, but I can't shade see through items well. Quote I think the thing is that her legs are insanely long, and her knees are too far up her leg. I don't think her eyes are on the same level, either. I think she looks quite young, for she lacks wrinkles and other attributes that are associated with older women. That is one cool Bangaa you drew. I like the clothing on the second man, save for that headpiece that looks like a jet-pack. What is that? She's supposed to have long legs, although I suppose it is far too long. The guy's headpiece is supposed to be a bandana and the jet pack thing is his hair. I didn't detail it because it's hard for me to shade hair and skin. Quote For the other two I'd say you need to work on your anatomy. Particularly your hands. Maybe spend some time drawing your non-dominant hand. Least that's what I did. The first time my brother saw Judson's picture, he said the fingers were way too long and looked alien like. He even showed me how it was supposed to look by demonstrating it for me, and he was right. I'll take your advice and practice drawing my non-dominant hand and also learning the human anatomy. Quote However, I agree that you need to work on your anatomy. Also... the faces are flat, I think they'd look much better if they were a little more detailed. I actually only just learned how to shade clothing a month ago, so it's hard for me to give details to skin and hair. I tried shading the skin, but it looked terrible, and I don't know why. Quote Okay so this has bugged me to the point i have to ask, why is the bangga (sp?) wearing a splintered heart (aka nobody symbol)? thats kinda the wrong series isnt it? That's how the Trickster's outfit is designed. Thank you all for your advice, it's actually something I really like to hear. Usually, everyone tells me my pictures look good and don't even bother to actually LOOK at them. ![]() A male cleric from Disgaea 3. I tried to make it animated, but it ended up looking... funky. The angle of his head and the diagonal slant just look terrible and nothing really seems to pop out about this picture... -------------------- And don't drive your car off a cliff like I did. the bangaa is great, seriously i can't even see anything to improve.
your strong point seems to be the clothing, because all the apparel looks very realistic. the thing that could use the most work is the faces. also, the muscle toneof the characters is ignored in some places, while over-emphasized in others. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! The picture you drew looks good (the black below the torso really grabs my attention), but as people have said, the actual body and face looks flat. Is there any way that the laws of artistic shading would let you shade parts of the man's body? (I have no knowledge of sketching things and I'm wondering if trying to shade on the face or on the neck would, perhaps, interfere with the logic of the picture.)

The Male cleric really isn't that bad. I rather like it, and I love the lower half. My only beef really is that his bellybutton is low. :3
If you don't think that it's good I'm not sure why you'd post it. Try and be positive! Only one way to go, and that's for you to get better. I like your sketches! Not that I think tracing is a good idea, but looking at drawings that have good proportions and trying to draw them yourself is a good way to get your proportions down. Any time you doubt the proportions, you can compare them to your own or to someone elses. People watching is a good way to get a feel for the shapes and proportions of bodies, as well as how they move and bend, how they work at don't work. I hope I don't sound mean. I can see where I over-emphasized the muscle tone, but could you point out where they are ignored? I'm thinking the wrists, but there might not be something I'm seeing. XD; I posted this picture because I wanted some criticism on it. I also have been copying pictures to get a feel for the anatomy for about 4 years. Currently, I'm copying Guilty Gear characters, and I actually learned how to shade by drawing one of those pictures. I'm going to start people watching now, since it'll probably help me with those difficult body proportions. And you don't sound mean at all! In fact, I appreciate your remarks. Thank you all for your kind words. I'll be sure to learn how to shade skin, and I'll try to draw a more animated picture. -------------------- And don't drive your car off a cliff like I did.
