*Setzer + Fixed Dice + Offering = fun. Yes, I'm only just now finding this out. For some reason Setzer was a more integral part of my party this time and so I cared more about powering him up.

*Desperation attacks are neat. I've seen more of them in the weeks since this game came out than I did in its entire lifetime on the SNES.

*Edgar + Genji Gloves + Illumina/Lightbringer + Atma Weapon = very fun. I know that "Dragoon Edgar" is the more popular option and most people prefer to spread those two legendary weapons out...but honestly. It's just really cool to watch the king lay down the law, especially when you don't care as much about hitting the absolute max damage cap. smile.gif

*The Dragons' Den is capable of handing me my head. My Kefka-smashing team got their butts handed to them by the very first boss. Time to rearmor and plot a strategy.

More to come as I think of them, or as you guys contribute.

I learned that a lvl 32 Gau Genji Glove + Offering Imp Halberds, then turned into an Imp after he rages (Yojimbo) and then cast beserk on is pretty strong.

I also learned that Magus Rod can cast Meteor (only on one enemy) when using it to attack an enemy,

I also learned that stats actually matter in this game..

Finally, I learned how hard making Blitzes work is.

Really? I personally think they are muj h simpler due to this.now that my "Phantom Rush is only hitting a button twice rather than a full rotation on such a little D-pad.

Prepare to formulate strategies on all the bosses in here as all of them require quite a bit of thought. That said, it was the perfect challenge. Difficult in the fact that I wasn't massively leveled and was doing limited magic learning. But anyway, one of the more fun dungeons in the game, in my opinion.

Things that I learned:

*Reraise (Life 3) is far more useful than just saving yourself after beating Magic Master.

*Mog is useless (Just one man's opinion).

*Gau + Force Armor + Destroyer rage = unbeatable. Such a combination saved my neck on more than one occasion against Kaiser.

*Woolsey's translation really wasn't that bad (you heard me).

*The GBA staff sure knew how to screw up "Dancing Mad".

*Sabin's Blitz names pale in comparison to the SNES days. Phantom Rush? Come on now.

That is all for now.

I have to agree with you.

I was disappointed in the new blitz names after aura cannon.

and I really like all the new Gau strategies coming out.

I bought Dancing Mad for my I-Pod because it was so messed up on the Gameboy.

i've been playing this exclusively on my Game Boy player through my Gamecube. the blitzes aren't bad with either analog stick. and if you set L and R to the X and Y buttons on the GCN controller, they are great for the tap blites like Chakra(Mantra) and Meteor Strike(Suplex.) I absolutely never use Spiraler.

and i love that the stats matter. Bonuses are great. esp the new ones.

i've only found three of the four new espers including the one you get when you defeat Kaiser.

Only 97% on the bestiary... i know i'm missing something big because i'm an esper short, and there is one empty slot on the bestiary below Kaiser.

oh, and Lakshmi? DUMBEST NAME EVER!

That would be Omega Weapon. He appears after you defeat Kaiser Dragon, but you have to do Dragons Den a second time and he will stand were Kaiser dragon was.

easiest way to do blitz's

AuraCannon : Down, Down, Left

Rising Phoenix :
Left, Left, Down, Down, Right

Razor Gale : Up, Up, Right, Right, Down, Down, Left

Phantom Rush : Left, Left, Up, Up, Right, Right, Down, Down, Left

Much easier than doing quater/semi circles on the D-pad, although the other method was pretty fun for the snes fighting game style!

i tried that method as soon as i got sabin, and it didn't work for aura cannon. it didn't work when he leared FIRE DANCE either.

Aside from matra and one or two others the blitz's are all the same as in the orginal, i've had no problem using any of them so i cant understand whats so hard about activateing them this time around. If you played it before just use the same blitz commands minus the X-Y buttons.

I've learned they've finally made it easier for gau to get those blasted rats from ultros opra house scenarios. Those were always about the only rage i could never get.

Edgar is really good with his tools if you boost up his magic and his str.

Dino forest still sucks.

The statues were made way to easy this go around, as was kefkas tower. I can get through the whole place with low leveled characters in the 30's.

gigantaur was a joke to fight as was giglamesh.

They still havent changed the AI for the collosium your characters still use there weakest magic and only there stat magic to fight enemies and die because of this.

Umaro doesnt die as easily as he did in the first game.

Hmm, I don't think any of that changed. I'd gonna go ahead and guess that you've just gotten a lot better at this game. biggrin.gif

I learned that even the weakest bosses can be tough when you don't have hit points.
That stealing is rarley worth the effort.
That trying to give strago stat increases doesnt put him on par with anyone but gogo.
That you can beat almost anything with a paladin shield, zepher cape, and beads.

Is there some reason that the makers of FF6 advance decided to change everything including the music? I find that Catoblepas (Shoat) is a less interesting name that the esper's orginal name on the SNES version. But then again, that's just me. I originally liked the numbering of the spells. I've gotten to the Kefka tower on SNES but I'm only up to Mt. Zozo (Near the first legendary dragon) on the advance. May I ask, what do they call Ultima, Flare, Haste2, and Slow2?

Lastly, I liked the spell name "X-zone" better than "Banish."

Like many others, I've learned that Woolsey's translation was very nice. Although there were certainly elements lacking, compared to the bastardization from the GBA localization team it was heaven.

I've also learned how much power leveling with esper bonuses help. In the SNES days, I used esper bonuses here and there, but on my first GBA save, I really focused on cranking out some power stats for my characters. It made a big difference.

I've learned that contrary to the fanboyish opinion I held in my youth, Locke isn't that great. Although at higher levels and stats, the differences between the characters don't matter.

May I ask, what do they call Ultima, Flare, Haste2, and Slow2?

Most likely, like they have with all other translations, Flare and Ultima remain unchanged as usual. Haste 2 and Slow 2 are Hastega and Slowga as with more recent Final Fantasies. Some obvious ones are Pearl and Pearl Lance now being Holy and Holy Lance respectively. Pearl Wind returned to being White Wind. I'm not really disappointed in particular by any of the retranslations (at least not in this remake), but I dislike how Life, Full-Life, and Auto-Life were changed to Raise and etc., since I like those names. I'm really glad that Square Enix opted to use magical and technical in this remake rather than magickal and technickal. That's one of the few things that annoy me in FFXII where a word like chemical would suddenly have a k in it. dry.gif

Changing some of the lines like the classic "Son of a submariner" was not a good move in my opinion. Just nitpicking...

Yea, and there isn't any sandworms in this game anyways.

One thing I learned is the Intergar (The Green Behemoth on Triangle Island in WOB) takes longer to kill than Ultima Weapon. That guy took forever to kill, with his disapering act... pinch.gif He also should have been worth alot of experence. maybe when I have Flare or something of that lines he'll be worth killing in the Velt. I though he'd be a cool rage until Gau killed himself. sad.gif

Have you check the desert outside miranda in the WOR? i do believe they were once known as hoovers. I also want to say something to the person above you. The life spells weren't life, autolife, and full life, they were life life2 life3. Anyways the more i play this the more i wonder if the three additional spells were suppost to be in the original game just never made it into the cut. I also really dont like the style of levithan they chose for this game, it looks to much like FF9's levithan. I liked the inclusion of jumbo cacutar even if it was making a pointless refrence to FF8, i just wish they would of done the same thing with the tonberry summon, that was my favorite 8 summon. I dont like that dioblos was included, this to me seems like a pointless jesture, not to mention a confusing one, because of how you get his three compaions. I didnt like the fact that they made the new espers only avilble in the later half of the game when at least two of them could of been done earlier.
