Just about everyone here is going to tell you to get FFT. I don't know about the sequels.

I never liked the original game. I thought the story was a little melodramatic and the gameplay confusing.

It's nicely done, and I'd recommend it.

I played FFTA several years before I got around to playing FFT. Both games are very good, but I recommend the original over the Advance version. The latter seems, I don't know how to say it, more toned down. Like there isn't as much action or something.

Same, I got FFTA first too, but FFT is just on a whole different level. And Advance's Law System was pretty restrictive.

But yeah, get FFT. IMO, it has one of the best video game plots ever, and the gameplay is just awesome. If you liked the Job System in other games, it's almost perfected in this one.

FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. I mean, look at that CGI scan of Yang. You see it and you just think...badass. And then you look at his polka-dot pants, likely stolen from a Dr. Seuss book. And then you just...shiver.

I'd say yes, play and/or get the first one. I've got memory cards full of it. It's one of two games for the PSP that makes me consider getting it, the second being Casltevania.

The Advance games are aimed to everyone, so the story isn't as serious as the Playstation one. It's still a good game and the law system does force you to use different stragities and have a diverse party. Some are disapointed by it and regard it as trash. As for me, I am looking foward to the sequal for DS.
