What were your favorite movies when you were 12 or under? I'm interested to know, here are some of mine, in a slightly general order of favorite to less favorite:
The Lion King (I cried, anyone else?) Any Pixar movie released before I turned 12 (especially toy story and monsters inc., even though monsters inc was like one month after I turned 13) Back to the Future trilogy Who framed roger rabbit We're back : A dinosaur story Pokemon Movie The first 3 land before times Indiana Jones 1 & 3 (2 was way to scary as a kid) Brave little toaster Post yours, I'm sure you all have some I don't remember. This will be a long list, but here goes:
Who Framed Ragoer Rabbit Batman (1989) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (late-80s or early- 90s) Child's Play Terminator (1984) Masters of the Universe Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure Back to the Future and it's sequels Spaceballs I didn't see this one for the first time 'til a few years ago, but considerin' it's release date, I feel it's necessary to include it. Die Hard Again, didn't see the first movie 'til a year ago, but I was under 12 when it was released. -------------------- "Thought I was dead, eh? Not until I fulfill my dream!" I remember quite well...
The main three movies that I watched as often as possible were the original three Star Wars. We're talking hundreds upon hundreds of times. Other than that, Die Hard. It was one of the very few VHS's we owned. -------------------- With the lights out It's less dangerous |

Hmmm, let's see... I was a disney fan in a big way. Not because of those blasted princesses though. Because of the music. I still know all the words to Be Our Guest. Anyhow...
Beauty and the Beast Kiki's Delivery Service Hunchback of Notre Dame Iron Giant (Anyone else sob like a small child STILL when they watch this?) Prince of Egypt Muppet's Christmas Carol (Total Christmas Tradition) I know I'm forgetting some, but... oh well. Kiki's Delivery Service is still my favorate movie. It cheers me up when I'm down, without fail. -------------------- TURKEY! - (The only way not to get blocked for using Fowl Language) |

Aladdin and Hook were my all time favorite movies when I was growing up.
A Goofy Movie was a close second, just for the sheer awesome of it. I saw and enjoyed the Breakfast Club at an early age. Even if I was still a bit too young at the time to fully appreciate the series, I loved Transformers and the 80's movie was definitely a favorite of mine. The Lost Boys, because I had loved vampires, though I didn't quite understand them. Batman and Batman Returns, even if it was completely unfaithful to the comics. They were fun to watch and had awesome casting. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

Wow... Trip down memory lane. Also interesting cause it kinda' shows everyone's generic timelines. Anyways:
The Land Before Time (the first, before the series got pimped) All Dogs Go To Heaven The Rescuers Down Under Rock-A-Doodle Rover Dangerfield American Tale: Fievel Goes West Fantasia Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Batman Bambi We're Back: A Dinorsaur's Story Those're the ones that really come to mind... Man, those movies rocked! -------------------- Games on the Go Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy: Four Warriors of Light Baldur's Gate Too much to play, so little time! Greg |

Quote (Perigryn @ 2nd October 2007 22:11) The Land Before Time (the first, before the series got pimped) Yes. For all you "youngsters" out there, once upon a time, there was only ONE land before time, and it was awesome. And all of us old folks were OK knowing they made it to the great valley, and couldn't have given a crap if they ever found more dinosaurs, or what-not. The Lion King was my favoritest movie ever. I wore out my Grandma's copy of it. When I'd visit, I'd watch it like 7 times in a row. Yes, full day, but that's what I did. Toy Story was good, but I didn't have it on VHS or anything. All dogs go to heaven is a classic. Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest was one I had watched a lot. Other than that, I really stuck more to Nickelodeon, as Cartoon Network didn't exist until I was older. But even then, I remember when the What A Cartoon show was picking the top few cartoons that might be made into series. Of these, Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab, and Cow and Chicken ranked up near the top. If somebody wants to start a cartoon post, I'm sure I have a couple cents worth to add to that. ![]() -------------------- If internal struggles were as enjoyable and glamorous as the self conflicted wars within video game characters, we would all be statues, reveling in perpetual self war. -Me Play me on Rock Band 2, GH-WT, or any other Xbox GH! Toy Story, Lion King, Pokemon movies...oh yeah, and that movie with Goofy and his son, forgot what it was called. I still have these all shelved up in my room, and once in a while I'll pop them out and play them on the VHS. I remember I used to watch these things over and over and over and over...and some of these movies still have that charm they had when I watched them over half a decade ago.
-------------------- FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. I mean, look at that CGI scan of Yang. You see it and you just think...badass. And then you look at his polka-dot pants, likely stolen from a Dr. Seuss book. And then you just...shiver. |

Star Wars trilogy (4-6, for anyone out there that's feeling that anal). There were plenty of other movies that I watched, but none nearly so often as those. Back then I could recite the entire dialogue from memory, and I might still be able to.

Quote (Bismark87 @ 5th November 2007 19:33) mouse trap anyone? anyone? >_> You mean the, "Turn the crank, which snaps the plank, and shoots the ball a-right down the shoot, and watch it roll, and hit the pole, and knock the ball in the rub-a-dub tub, which flips the man, into the pan... The trap is set, here comes the net!" Mouse trap? Or was there a movie? He might be thinking of Mouse Hunt, which is a medium-funny Nathan Lane movie with a mouse in it.
When I was little I remember loving The Goonies, Toy Story, and The Nightmare Before Christmas a whole lot, plus a lot of Disney and Bluth animated movies, like The Great Mouse Detective, The Aristocats, 101 Dalmatians, and An American Tail. Something about animals with human speech and personalities just seemed awesome to me. I still like all of those movies, but not quite as much as I did when I was that age. Funny thing - when I saw The Seven Samurai and The Untouchables for the first time I hated them (I was <10 years old), but now they're each two of my all-time absolute favorite films. -------------------- |

The original Land Before Time was probably the thing that stuck out in my mind the most. I actually saw it the other day randomly on one of my cable movie channels, and was amazed at how much I still remembered of it. Still loved the story.
The Goonies, definitely. Fantasia (mostly the ending because the demon was cool) All Dogs Go to Heaven The first two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movies Who Framed Roger Rabbit really scared the crap out of me at the end with the bad guy and all that freaky animation. It gave me nightmares. Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, again because the ending was so cool. Same thing with all 3 Indy movies I guess, the endings had really creepy and twisted death scenes. I used to have a morbid fear of being put in a cage and lowered into a pit of lava. Super Mario Bros. the movie. Come on, I know it was outrageously cheesy, but it was actually a fun time to watch! Night of the Living Dead (the 1990 remake, hadnt seen the original at the time), watched this at a birthday party and was scared out of my mind the first time I saw it. I loved it and hated it, and always thought of ways I would stay alive if zombies started running (or shambling) wild. This post has been edited by TheEvilEye on 10th November 2007 03:53 |
