I noticed when playing this game that it is really expensive to buy all magic, weapons and armour from different towns. And I usually buy out all stores on every FF that I play just to add them to my collection and to say I have at least one. However is this possible on FF2? because you can only hold a maximum of about 68? and it doesn say for example PotionX3 but rather

and this pointlessly fill up space.
So i guess the question is is there much point in buying out stores when I am only going to discard or sell the items later becasue I can't hold anymore?

Pretty much. Only buy what you need, and sell all of your old equipment when it's been replaced to score some extra cash and make space in your inventory. It's also advisable to never buy new equipment as it becomes available; as you find most of your weapons and armor in chests. I usually save my money for spells and restorative items this way.
