I drink milk with pretty much every meal, and in this case I prefer 1% or skim. However, if the milk is on cereal or I'm just drinking a glass of milk because I know I should eat something and nothing else sounds good, I'll drink 2%.

I drink skim milk. I used to prefer 2% but drink 1%, and now anything but skim upsets my stomach. I can't actually taste the difference between skim and 1%, even though my in-laws all refer to it as 'colored water' and refuse to drink anything but 3% (whole) milk. It should be a fun Christmas.

I liked chocolate soy milk, but I have yet to find a brand that doesn't have sugar added... and sugar makes me violently ill.

Rice milk isn't half bad, but, again... Lots of added sugar to make it taste good, and, trust me, nothing tastes good ever again after its trip back up. sad.gif

Back home, semi-skimmed milk. I only have it on my cereal, though - not a big fan of milk otherwise. Thing is, since I moved here (Exeter, UK), I haven't been eating breakfast because the milk here is awful. Honestly, nothing compares to Jersey milk. Prettier cows = better milk.

Edit: Oh, I will drink milk with a couple of shots of Malibu and a bit of cocoa powder. heart.gif

Whole milk. My family nearly always has two types of milk in the fridge, but I dislike semi-skimmed and I prefer whole milk unless there's no other alternative. The taste of chilled milk and museli in the mornings is what stops me from going back to sleep on the walk to school.

Considering my diet and relative lack of exercise, I'm surprised I haven't become obese. xD

Whole milk. It's Patriotic to drink whole milk.

I too drink the Milk Of The Patriots. Had SolidSnake not strayed from their
works, he wouldn't be as bent over and broken down by MGS4. LiquidSnake
has had so much whole milk, his own bones are stronger than the will of the
people he's grafted to!

I drink rice milk. Soy taste like some sort of vegetable paste water, my body doesn't handle lactose gracefully, and I need my granola cereal.

My parents raised me on Non-Fat milk and so whole milk and even 2% milk are just too rich for me to have straight up.

However, in an effort to gain a bit of weight, I've switched over to 1%

I was looking at the Silk Soymilk today in the grocery store, and they have an unsweetened kind. It's still 1g of sugar for 1 cup of milk, but maybe that would be alright? Just thought I'd let you know.

3% (whole) milk

Wow! biggrin.gif Someone actually knew that fact! Mad props!

**Brain turns on and Associate Degree knowledge in nutrition kicks in**

I think I voted for 1%, I did it a long time ago and meant to post, but never got around to it. Here are the harsh facts:

The percentage tacked onto milk is the amount of the milkfat they add back into the milk. All milk is skim to begin with!!! With the exception of Half & Half (which has cream), Cream (which has... um... cream tongue.gif ), and butter, which is cream minus moisture plus churning.

Whole = 3% milkfat

Skim =0.5% milkfat (Vitamins A & D are always added to milk, and they are fat soluble, which means there has to be some fat content. If you don't believe me, check the ingredients on skim milk. You will find one of two things: either palmitate, or vitamin A palmitate. If you google it, you will discover that palmitate is a fat used to bind to fat soluble vitamins, but any fat content <1% can be marke as 0%.)

Half & Half = 16% milkfat

Cream = 33% milkfat

Butter = 80% milkfat

Soy milk does not contain calcium naturally, which means you absorb less than 50% of the stated calcium because it is synthetic, and it does not stay in solution, so if you don't shake it before drinking it, you will end up with a thick paste at the bottom of the container, which is acutally all of the calcium. The same applies to the calcium added to orange juice.

I believe rice milk follows the same calcium principle.

Chocolate milk is always given a bad reputation, but in serving size by comparison, there is a difference between 10-20 calories between 2% regular and 1% chocolate. (I think so anyway, it's been awhile since I last checked)

If you have kids, and they won't drink "white" milk, but they will drink chocolate, get 1% or skim chocolate milk, and it's really the best way to get kids their calcuim.

Learning is fun! And knowing is half the battle!

I must have the bones of Atlas, because I drink a ton of milk. I drink it with breakfast, with lunch, with dinner, my snacks and desert. We go through three bags (Anyone else get milk bags? I know some folk don't.) In a day. And my parents only use it for tea.

You're Canadian, aren't you? We used to get milk delivered to our door in bags when I was a kid, and we had a pitcher to put the bag in.

Wow, is that like the prevalent packaging of milk in Canada or something? I remember notably that my uncle's family in Toronto also gets their milk in bags. As a little kid, I was kinda intrigued by it. Oh, and they also had this pitcher to hold the bag as well.

Milk in bags isn't totaly Canadian. I know from Ontario eastward it's pretty normal, but I knew a girl from Alberta who positively freaked out when she learned about milk bags. She wanted to bring one back to show her friends.

No, I can guarantee it because this is the way I feel this way too. I find all milk delicious but 1-2% tastes cleaner then whole to me. In contrast however, skim milk tastes too similar to plain water to be chosen over it in most cases.

As far as milk substitutes go, they taste quite different in my opinion. Not all bad but they qualify as their own category of drink to me. My preferences there all depends uponon the quality of taste for the concoction. Cheaper ones are typically the greatest evil possible but this topic brings at least one to mind that I'd actually like to have right about now. Can't remember which it was though.

I have an un-healthy addiction to 2% milk.

For the past 6 months I've been waking up between 2am-5am every morning(when I'm at home). Before I know it I've downed 3-4 cookies and 1L of milk. It's making me fat and draining my monies.

I have no control sad.gif

I grew up on 2%, actually.

However, once I moved out, started trying to watch my weight, I addicted myself to skim milk.

Now I can't drink anything else. xD

I've been allergic to milk pretty much my whole life. I'm sure I'm not anymore, but I think milk is gross. I've had it two or three times in the past 10 years and it was horrible each time. Blech.

I eat all my cereal dry, however that is what I've always done since I was little. I thought milk ruined cereal and it was gross, even before I was diagnosed with allergies when I was 7.
