I want to see how far along everyone is that recently bought the new PSP version.
I personally just started act three but quit after Olan went and got himself killed. So far I have figured out the requirements for an onion knight but not the dark knight,,,,, please don't post it I want to figure it out. Been grinding quite a bit, have two hands and two swords but dreading the grind for move+3. Did anyone else see how blade grasp won't block bow attacks? Now I don't know what my reaction ability will be. Anyway far have you come with the new game? |

Personally, I switched to Abandon as my reaction ability of choice long ago. With the right mantle, Abandon's doubling of evasion makes it better than Blade Grasp, simply because it can apply to magic attacks as well as physical.
Personally, I haven't finished Chapter 1 yet. I'm working my way towards Fell Knight right now - I want to see what the skillset is. I won't say what the requirements are, but I will say that they're time-consuming to achieve. Anyone else feel that the Onion Knight wasn't worth the effort? |

Found a new character earlier today and I have to say he looks pretty awesome. Almost certain he'll make my final party
Edit And I not talking about Balthier or whoever, I haven't found him yet This post has been edited by JesusLasVegas on 21st October 2007 06:19 |

And one other thing, the requirements for bard are Summoner-4 and Mediator-4, correct?
I leveled Ramza up to that but no Bard yet. I'm gonna go 6 and 6 and hopefully it'll unlock. If you know what I'm doing wrong tell me so I don't waste all this time Moderator Edit Well, I know that you're not supposed to double-post... -R51 This post has been edited by Rangers51 on 21st October 2007 13:28 |

yeah, they increased the requirement for a lot of jobs. I think bard is now level five mediator and level five summoner.

My favorite new addition to FF Tactics PSP? The new script, of course. But my second-favorite? It might be the larger army size - now I can make many more generics and still have room for special characters and poach-breeding monsters.
Anyhow, I just got to Riovanes Castle. My Ramza is at level 31, and I finally got my first Dark Knight (I'm going to make four, but three of them are just so a couple of females can get Move+3). Another comment - Are Rafa and Malak (or Rapha and Marach, whichever) much stronger, or am I hallucinating? Because every time Rapha uses Heaven's Wrath, it hits five or six times and destroys people instead of missing twice and wasting a turn. -------------------- |

I agree Rapha and Marach are stronger, the first time I saw her do her heaven move I swear it hit like seven times, I wasn't counting but I thought it would never end
And I got the bard by the way |

I just bought it (used) and I'm about to turn it on. I've never played FFT before for any length of time; I couldn't figure out the menus or survive the first battle. But I figure I can take it back if I still hate it, so, what the heck.

Elmdore at Limberry does not have Safeguard; His set list is as follows:
Sword Spirit Vampire Shirahadori (Blade Grasp) Brawler (Bare Hand) Master Teleportation However, I did try stealing his equipment from him when I went up against him, but I my Ninja with Steal had a 00% rate to steal. I'm going to try one of the new characters that has an ability to the steal set. I hope that prevails. Heck, I'm sure we all hope it prevails! |

Not past Fort Zeakden myself. I have four generics that are leveling, this
time as more class-centric traditionals than as crazy-customized avatars. I am loving the new script; I wish I had the latest PSP with the video-out so I could export this to dvdr and share with nonPSP friends! -------------------- Putting the A's in W lm rt: A11smart, Jobclass: Retailer. |

My PSP and copy of FFT (purchased through AmaCon) arrived yesterday, and I'm enjoying the story so far. Definitely more complex and engaging than the standard FF storylines, which can only be a good thing.
I'm still on Chapter 1, just fighting random battles to get some gil. I'm a bit of a stickler for upgrading equipment as soon as it becomes available, and even at the beginning of the game it seems you need a hell of a lot of gil to do that! The first 2-3 battles were actually quite hard, and I've probably used more Phowenix Downs already than in the entirety of any other FF. The "3 turns and they're gone" thing is irritating to say the least, but the rest of the battle mechanics are solid. The lag is there, but it's not unbearable. I've also been taking breaks by replaying the WH40K: Squad Command demo. Definitely recommended, that. Anyway! Yeah, excellent game so far, can see why it's been so well loved the last nine, nearly ten years. Can see myself sinking lots of hours into this one. Edit: Oh, just a quick question on recruiting: is it worth recruiting any more generic soldiers? I just have my starting 6 (I think it's six) and would prefer to concentrate on getting them beefed up than having a larger but individually weaker party. I know you can get special characters down the road as well, so I'm not sure if training up random generic soldiers is worth it. This post has been edited by bam on 3rd November 2007 17:05 |

You don't get to keep any special characters until at least the end of Chapter 2, if I remember the storyline correctly, and you don't get any decent number until Chapter 4 (wherein you get swamped by them, if you do all the sidequests). Don't hold back on generics just because some special guys are available way later. In my opinion, the starting characters are fine. Given that you start with six in addition to Ramza, I usually wind up booting at least two before the battle at Dorter. That said, going and hiring new generics isn't necessarily a bad thing. Some battles are easier if you have characters of specific genders and specific zodiac signs, which is achievable by repeatedly starting a hire, then cancelling it until you get the right sign. That's one of those "abuse the system" methods (from my point of view) that isn't necessary to enjoy the game, but is available if one feels the need to get everything. |

I'm at the part of the game where you save up the money to go buy it. lol. but there are a few things I know:
1) you can't steal the genji equipment from elmdor. don't try. I don't know why they changed that, as it was a point of pride for many to accomplish this feat - but they did. Just because his skillset doesn't have safeguard in it, doesn't mean he doesn't have it either. Many enemies in the game have 'built in' support abilities to their classes. (such as izlude's concentrate) 2) generics are cool too. I usually scrapped my team as soon as I could so that I could set their brave/faith level, and name them names that I thought were cool. That way I enjoy playing them until I do get better characters at the end of the game. -------------------- |
