I was wondering if anyone else on this forum has been diagnosed with cancer and how they dealt with all the stuff that comes along with finding out?

Well I haven't but I have to say I feel bad for you. My mom found a lump recently and I've been worried ever since but she just got a mammogram and hopefully it will turn out to be nothing.

Hmm i don't know because i've never had cancers.

I do have neurofibromitosis though.

That's a disease where your genes don't know when to stop and keep growin producing tumors all around your body.

It can cause a lot of pain and death if not removed, sometimes you can't remove them.

Simptoms:You got brown cafeolet spots on your body and sometimes they check for brain lesions( i got none thankfully)

Other thing included:faulty nervous system and irregular speech pattern

And by that,i mean possibly jumbling up words.

Thankfully,mine is null(THANK GOD!!)

Just out of curiosity, where do you have the cancerous lump?

Depending on where it is,maybe it can be removed.

Did they recommend chemotherapy?

Wow that sounds terrible, but i have been diagnosed with testicular cancer. fortunatly though it is pretty early. it is just I have just turned 21 and this kinda hits hard. I can understand that it could be way worse but you always think that this kind of stuff will not happen to you but when it does it seems hard to deal with.

As for treatment they are removing the infected one, thankfully it is only one. My oncologist has said that fortunatly it is early enoguh that I will not need Chemo as long as my check-ups come up clean once they remove the first one.

I feel like this is sureal but I am trying really hard to learn all about it but i am just not really sure how to go about handeling it with friends and family.

I feel kinda bad sitting here complaining though after reading about your neurofibromitosis. I am glad that yours seems to be mild compared to what it could be. How did you handle getting the diagnosis?

I and defintaly feel sorry for your mom magitek. If my mom found out that she had cancer i have no idea what i would do or how i would handel it, but hopfeully, and i will pray that this is the case, it turns out to be absolutly nothing serious.

This topic has made me feel very fortunate in that I have a clean bill of health.

Magitek I had no idea of your disease. It is highly unnoticable in your writing

patterns. seraphdreamer I will be praying for your mom. Finally piggme, you are a

very brave man to be finding ways to deal with this. If I were in your position I

would just freak out and shout "why me?" about 60 odd times before I

remembered other people have this too and that it can be treated. You are very

noble sir and I hope you live a long and happy life. smile.gif

Honestly,i-ve lived with it my whole life so i-m accustomed to it.

I-ve also had good parents and read.

Its just important to remember to take it slow when talking so,because the problem is not knowing what you are going to say,but saying them too quickly and jumbling up your words.

And while i do have hyperactivity,i believe its something related to it.

I feel worse for you who has testicular cancer and you might not be able to have a child. sad.gif

I'm not in your position and so I really can't relate (which is why I didn't even intend on posting here initially), until I saw this. I just wanted to let you know that one of my close coaches and teachers, a guy I train with regularly, was diagnosed with testicular cancer in late winter as well. It was caught early, like you, and he ended up not requiring any chemo, hopefully like you. He was very open about it with the people he wanted to tell and, while that may not necessarily be the way you want to go about it, I can honestly say that all his friends and family were very supportive and helpful towards him. He only needed to have one removed as well, which was nice, and he's now back to his initial level of physical activity. And, to my knowledge, he is still able to have kids. He really hasn't let the entire situation effect him at all (negatively, that is), despite the fact that just about everyone at the highschool where he teaches knew by the end of the year.

So while I haven't had cancer of any type, I can at least tell you that you shouldn't need to worry about those around you. And, seeing as my coach and you both seem to be in similar scenarios, I hope that your recovery goes as quickly and smoothly as his has!

Sorry if this was out of line / unhelpful!
