I really never understood why anyone called these guys good. I found both of them useless, (Though Rafa made an effective mage due to high Faith) and all in all just a waste of space. I tried using them once, but they really just didn't appeal to me.

So, did they get improved at all in WotL? If not, what made them good in the first place?

FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. I mean, look at that CGI scan of Yang. You see it and you just think...badass. And then you look at his polka-dot pants, likely stolen from a Dr. Seuss book. And then you just...shiver.

I'm assuming you mean their special jobs' abilties; it's all in how and where you use them. Their special magics are best used against enemies that are in close proximity to each other 'cuz you have more of a chance in hitting the intended targets. If you target one enemy in a place in which there is only that one enemy, you're just wasting a turn as you're more likely to hit a lot of empty panels. Otherwise, like you say, Rafa's a great mage with high Faith and also is great for finding hidden items, specifically at the Deep Dungeon, with Move-Find and low Brave.

They're not Useless, just they aren't sons of God like Orlandu, Agrias, and other Special Characters. If you took their Brave and Faith up, they become stronger too.

As far as a boost....I don't really think so. I thought for a moment in the first battle you see the two combatants in that the attacks seemed to go on for a little bit longer. I think i just never saw it used much because i didn't use them originally. Over all I only use raffa for deep dungeon and thats it...Ive got 2 dark knights 2 holy knights and Balthier a chemist/gunner/thief.

I typically change Rafa into a Black Mage and use Heaven Skills as her secondary on the off chance someone actually moves to a spot where it's 100% guaranteed to hit (at which point her skills can do upwards of ~400 dam a hit).

As for Malak, I usually go the route of lowering his Faith to the minimum (since I have a chemist around) and making him a monk with Hell Skill as a secondary

Making Become Rafa son of Orlandu is easier than Malak. But you can just use Beowulf and raise up Faith three or four times for every single battle. In my last Game, even i have also tried to make Malak a Monk, but this "Monk" status will be changed soon as i get "Ninja" job for Malak.

Try to have a comparison between a Squire and a Hell Knight, at pair levels without equipment. Rafa, more than Malak, is REALLY Strong. And Even Malak, with a Thief Hat and Sprint Shoes. So damn fast °_°
