Quote (Samurai Bob @ 4th October 2007 20:45) SWEET. I think I'm okay with voice acting now, though I do think Golbez's field model doesn't look quite evil enough. I was also pretty surprised to hear lyrics added to the Theme of Love... Awesome job Ronin, thanks for supplying us with all the subbed trailers! You're welcome hun. I thought the lyrics were kind of cool. I'll be posting the translation for them too when I finish it next week. -------------------- "Some fight for justice. Here's a list of the new voice cast, from IGN. Someone also supplied notable voice roles from other games and TV shows as well:
http://ds.ign.com/articles/823/823567p1.html Quote (IGN) A big 3D facelift isn't the only update Final Fantasy IV is receiving in its trip to the DS. Square Enix is also adding voice acting to better tell one of the series' classic story lines. Today, the company announced the Japanese voice actor cast. Square Enix is apparently planning on getting the voice job right. The list of previous work for the for the cast includes such big productions as Blood+, D.Gray-man, Saiyuuki, Galaxy Angel, Dragon Ball Z, Hajime no Ippo, and Naruto. Here's the full cast: Cecil: Shizuma Hidoshima Rosa: Yuko Kaida Kain: Koichi Yamadera Gilbert: Ryo Horikawa Rydia: Noriko aya Palom & Porom: Rie Kugimiya Yan: Tesshou Genda Edge: Hiroya Ishimaru Cid: Ichiro Nagai Fusoya: Banjou Ginga Tellah: Gorou Naya Globez: Takeshi Kaga With FFIV getting the full voice treatment, we can only assume the upcoming remakes of FFV and FFVI will follow. Suddenly, playing games you've played a few times before doesn't sound too bad. Quote (Kishi) Shizuma Hidoshima No information. It would seem IGN got the name wrong. Cecil Harvey Yuko Kaida Dixie Clemets (Rumble Roses series) Rosa Farrell Koichi Yamadera Various roles redubbing the voice of Eddie Murphy Donald Duck (Disney animation, Kingdom Hearts) Roger Rabbit (Who Framed Roger Rabbit) Ryoga Hibiki (Ranma ½) Sebastian (The Little Mermaid, Kingdom Hearts) The Beast (Beauty and the Beast, Kingdom Hearts) Genie (Aladdin, Kingdom Hearts) Kibagami Jubei (Ninja Scroll) Ryoji Kaji (Neon Genesis Evangelion) Togusa (Ghost in the Shell series) Michael Jordon (Space Jam) Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop) Ed (Brave Fencer Musashiden) Stitch (Lilo & Stitch, Kingdom Hearts II) Tyler Durden (Fight Club) Albedo Piazzolla (Xenosaga series) Leonard (Drag-On Dragoon) Cain Highwind Ryo Horikawa Vegeta (Dragon Ball Z) Heiji Hattori (Detective Conan) E.G. Mine (Trigun) Captain Falcon (Super Smash Bros. series) Miktran (Tales of Destiny PlayStation 2 remake) Gilbert Chris Von Muir Noriko Shitaya Kasumi Tomine (Alien Nine) Maria (Final Fantasy II PlayStation remake) Lydia of Mist Rie Kugimiya Mary Godwin (Xenosaga series) Porom the Mysidian Palom the Mysidian Tesshou Genda Various roles redubbing the voices of Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Steven Seagal Foghorn Leghorn (Looney Tunes franchise) Tigger (Winnie the Pooh animation, Kingdom Hearts) Wilbur (The Rescuers) Rei (Urusei Yastura) Inspector Gadget (Inspector Gadget) Optimus Prime (Transformers) Ryusaku (Akira) Garfield (Garfield and Friends) Batman (Batman: The Animated Series) Tiesel Bonne (Mega Man Legends series) Domino Walker (Cowboy Bebop) Tantor (Tarzan) Mace Windu (Star Wars series) Dan Dastun (The Big O) Azul (Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII) Yang Fang Leiden Hiroya Ishimaru Hot Rod (Transformers) Count Dracula (Demon Castle Dracula X: Rondo of Blood) Koji Masuda (Ehrgeiz) Lei Wulong (Tekken 5) Edward "Edge" Geraldine Ichiro Nagai Jodo (Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro) Yoda (Star Wars series) Cherry (Urusei Yatsura) Mito (Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind) Left Hand (Vampire Hunter D) Happosai (Ranma ½) Philoctetes (Hercules, Kingdom Hearts) Cid Pollendina Banjo Ginga Liquid Snake (Metal Gear Solid series) Tongpu (Cowboy Bebop) Clayton (Tarzan, Kingdom Hearts) Captain Blue (Viewtiful Joe series) Major Zero (Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater) Reeve Tuesti (Final Fantasy VII series) Fusuya Goro Naya Inspector Zenigata (Lupin III franchise) Yupa (Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind) Benson Cunningham (Snatcher) Gordon Rosewater (The Big O) Tella the Wise Man Takeshi Kaga Chairman Kaga (Iron Chef) Souichiro Yagami (Death Note) Golbeza I only recognize Tesshou Genda from Tales of Destiny (he played Bruiser/Kongman), but I'm pretty unfamiliar with the rest of the voice actors. The VAs do sound pretty hot, with the exception of Cain, who sounds much deeper than I imagined him to sound. But otherwise, they sound almost exactly how I imagined them. I wonder how the English voice cast will sound. This post has been edited by Zeromus_X on 5th October 2007 03:39 -------------------- |

Wow, I was really surprised with Kain's VA. Donald Duck? Michael Jordan? Stitch? And so on...
I'm worried about how the English will turn out, though. CSM's voice ideas seem pretty ideal for me. And um...whenever I try to access the vid again, it says the user removed it. What happened? Youtube didn't delete it, did they? -------------------- FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. I mean, look at that CGI scan of Yang. You see it and you just think...badass. And then you look at his polka-dot pants, likely stolen from a Dr. Seuss book. And then you just...shiver. |

Haha...yeah, he does look pretty emo. It probably would've been better if his hair were more pushed back.
Y'know, not long ago I didn't believe in Amano designs in 3D. But now, I'm looking at these, and they're just awesome. Yeah, I realize now that a good number of his designs are sweet, it's just that his artwork makes it look like emos in a Dr. Seuss book. However, I'm still a little bugged by the fact that he puts polka dots on everything. If you look at Yang, you think, "Badass!", and then you look at his pants and shiver. -------------------- FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. We're just saying Edward looks emo because he's got the hair-brushed-over-one-eye, meloncholy-expressioned, while-my-guitar-gently-weeps, as-seen-in-so-many-MySpace-pics classic emo look down absolutely pat.

Bill Murray did the voice of garfield in the movies, as you will see after Garfield's name in the post, it says Quote which is the old school cartoon. But it strikes me as odd that these are japanese names. I would be more inclined to believe that these are still based off video games if they're not obviously anime.(Garfield and Friends) Quote Takeshi Kaga Chairman Kaga (Iron Chef) Souichiro Yagami (Death Note) Golbeza Ummm.... I can already feel my old fangirl self re-imerging from its resting place inside me... I haven't been this excited about a Final Fantasy game since VIII was released back in '99! I've already created a collage of characters with the new CGI images, and will indefinitely be making some nifty avatars. Not to mention I have to buy a DS. I even have my fiancé excited about this. And I sent my Kain-crazy sister the wallpaper that's on the official site.
I've been saying for YEARS that FFIV over all the games in the franchise deserved a remake. I haven't actually played it for GBA because it seemed like a port more than anything (I could be wrong). IV had all this potential, and even though it got shafted was still a masterpiece. And now they're bringing it back and adding new story elements! IGN: "The game will feature new episodes, allowing players to get deeper acquainted with the storyline." And that's what interests me more than the 3D models, CGI cutscenes, voice acting, vocal version of the Theme of Love (which was done before by Risa Ohki on the Love Will Grow and Pray CDs, but this will probably be redone with an English version). I loved this game for what mattered most, the characters and story (at least that's what mattered back in the day) ^.^ |

OK, FF4 confession time.
Am I the only one who really dislikes Theme of Love? It gives me diabetes. I also don't think it's that great of a song in general. I'd prefer a vocal version of... um... "Red Wing's Theme"! They could make it all slow and arranged and meloncholy. Don't you think that would be better? -------------------- Some ghost of me might greet my son the day he is delivered. It certainly wouldn't have been my first pick to make the vocal theme, but it's not a terrible song. Personally the overworld theme is the best choice. I've heard two versions of that done with vocals and it's truly beautiful.

I was pleasantly surprised to see "spoony bard" while playing through War of the Lions of PSP, so I'm really hoping that they'll keep in the release for US. IIRC, they kept it in the GBA version.
