Just wondering if anyone has done any. I'm going to be starting up a Ninja/Time Mage challenge when I get the game in a few days.

While I don't expect this to be difficult, I think it will be very fun to try.

Any other party suggestions?

A dual class challenge, hmm? I can't say as I've ever heard of this before. Is it something of your devising, or did you find it somewhere (perhaps somewhere you could point out to me)?

Here ya go:

Click me, then go to the "Challenge FAQ"

Lots of fun stuff in there. I'm a big fan of Tactics Double Dare, SCC, DCC, and the Truly Old School Challenge.

Wow, excellent find, Stigma. I cannot believe that I have never checked that FAQ out before.

Here's a fun question... does anyone plan on trying out the challenges on the PSP version when it launches?

I smell SCC/DCC with Onion Knights!

(PS. Hello!)

Let the Dark Onion Knights march! tongue.gif I'll definitely be up for a challenge or two, once I've beat the game normally.

On an on-topic note, I'll be playing a DCC as soon as I complete my trial run of the Invitational challenge.

you could go old school with knights and archers, kind of a realistic challenge, no magics or healing abilities

That sounds pretty cool, though it might become a little boring after a while.

However, with the pure damage output you could potentially have, it might not be a very long runthrough anyway!

(Thanks, Lune... I think that will be the first DCC that I attempt!)

Oh, and Suunok... it's almost required that you play through it once before starting a challenge... just to see what sort of things they've changed!

(Not to mention the exciting additions such as Balthier, etc)

---

I've started my [Knight|Archer] DCC. It's proving quite difficult already, seeing as there is a lack of healing/rezing, and they definitely try to get you to expand your classes in the first chapter.

(I don't know why, but the first few story fights are harder for me than almost all of chapters 2 and 3. Maybe I'm just too suborn to level up?)

Are you doing a traditional DCC or a "Super" DCC, DrkAdonis? (For clarification, I'm referring to the ones described in the Challenge FAQ on GameFAQs, as linked to in A_True_Stigma's post)

I'm doing a "Super" DCC, Suunok. I guess I should change my sig to SDCC, shouldn't I?

It's not that I wouldn't like the challenge of a traditional... it just seems too boring for me. (Especially with Knights and Archers. *snore*)

Alright. I was going to make a comment about breaking equipment with bows potentially making things easier, until I realized that depending on how you were playing it, you might not be able to do that. tongue.gif After all, at higher levels, breaking their armor may deal more damage than any other attack you can bring to bear.

Hmm... Which other DCCs might be particularly interesting to attempt?

another fun challenge might be geomancers and lancers for the same reason that you still cant heal but you can chose to use the lancers dragon spirit for reraise.
you might also want to try old feudal japan and go straight ninja's and samurais

I had already decided on that being my next DCC because I'm a huge Feudal Japan freak, and I looooove Samurai. (My kitten, 4 months old, is named Ronin!)

Any sets with chemist, summoner, ninja, dancer, or calc will be pretty easy. If you're looking for a real challenge, you might want to skip these.

That said, my favorites are:

Ninja/(Time Mage or Oracle)
Lancer/(Time Mage or Oracle)
Archer/(Time Mage or Oracle)
Ninja/Thief
Geomancer/Priest
Squire/Samurai
Summoner/Mime

The justification on the first three is that both Time Magic and Yin-Yang Magic are largely MA-independent. So, just having high faith will make them quite formidable casters, even in the physical class. Ninja's obviously powerful, and hasted is nigh unkillable. Hasted Lancers? I think the benefits of this one are apparent. ...and I just have a soft spot for Archers. They were my favorite SCC. They're the absolute kings of random battles for about 9/10 of the game, but they have problems with quite a few story battles. The magic backup is there to help out with those.

Ninja/Thief is a little harder than Nin/Time Mage or Oracle, but their movement is enhanced, and higher speed = better stealing.

Geo/Priest just combines long distance 100% hit-rate decent damage (with a ~25% chance for status effect!) with good defensive spells and good physical attacks. Great all-arounder.

Samurai sucks at melee. It really does. So, use Accumulate to boost physical damage and get a little extra movement from Move+1.

Summoner/Mime... yeah. I think you know how awesome this can be.
