Is there a way to apply a skin (any skin) to the forums? I seem to have heard of the possibility of doing so several times, including this suggestion from Tiddles:
Quote (Tiddles) One of the nice things about CoN (from a biased point of view!) is that you can make it black if you want to. We have a good range of themes that match between the site and the forum, and unlike many optional forum themes I've seen, I'd like to think that a lot of ours are pretty well made. I can get a skin to work for me on the main site (I usually go with the Digi skin), but whenever I come back to the forums, the forums look the same. Am I supposed to separately set the forums to be skinned, or is there only one look to the forums? (Note: I don't really care if there isn't an alternate skin to the forums; I actually kinda like them as they are.) -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. You can find me on the Fediverse! I use Mastodon, where I am @[email protected] ( https://sakurajima.moe/@glennmagusharvey ) |

Oh, man, HOW long have we had these forums? Yeah, every site skin has a matching forum skin. Always has.
1. Click "My Controls." Since you're stuck on the default skin, this is in the upper right, beneath the bar of buttons containing "Search," "Members," et. al. 2. On the left navigation, look for "Skin and Languages." Click. 3. Select a new skin from the dropdown - click "Preview" if desired, and then click "Change My Account Options." Now, if you're doing all these things and it's still not changing, then that's another issue. But I don't think you'll find that to be the case, by and large. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

I was just looking through the skins and it's been a long time since a new one has been launched. Are you going to make any new ones in the near future?

If we make new site skins, we'll make new forum skins to match. Unfortunately, it's another one of those things that's not quite a trivial process, and we have higher standards for design than most of our competition.

Wow, how did I completely not notice this for the several years that I've been around here. I thought I had checked out everything on my settings/control panel page, but apparently I hadn't!
In any case, this looks quite awesome! Thanks a lot for telling me about it! ![]() Quote (Rangers51) and we have higher standards for design than most of our competition. ![]() And that's just one more way (among many others) that CoN is awesome. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I'd like to be able to switch back to the old Persona skin. There's a couple reasons, but the big kicker is the right-justified breadcrumb trail. It's incredibly annoying as Website Root and Forum Root links constantly move around the screen. Whereas before -- no matter how deep into the forum I was -- I could always move around to the same spot and get back to the index. Now I have to actually parse the breadcrumb trail. It's too bad, really. The forum itself is a lot cleaner and graphics are much snappier. Fonts are displayed very nicely and at an excellent size. Have you actually looked at the existing skin switcher since the change?
![]() I didn't really like having the breadcrumb trail over there either, but because of the larger font, I couldn't have line breaks in it any more without the heading getting huge, and as a single stream on the left, it decapitates the artwork and becomes difficult to read because of that. I mean, really, I went to the trouble of putting my request in a thread that already existed, as well as linking it to a previous conversation. Due diligence demands I actually read the thread I'm replying to. Honestly. Not insane. -------------------- Visions of Peace - Four Generals, One Empire, and the Returners caught in the middle. |
