...Who supports the TerraxLocke pairing?

I was one of the people who thought it was going to be TerraxLocke, but by the time it was obvious it was going to be LockexCeles, I just thought that that pairing didn't work. I just think Terra and Locke fit together really well.

Does Anyone else?

To be honest, I always thought Locke was trying to get on BOTH of their good sides, but if Ihad to choose, I'd probably predict a Celes pairing.

Terra's problem was being unable to find love. Locke's was being unable to cope with the loss of his love. And Celes' was to find someone who'd accept her despite having been on the Empire's side.

IMO, the pairing works well. Terra probably isn't ready for that kind of love, having only learned what it means late in the game. She seems very happy having the children's love and support, and to have someone depending on her.

Locke gets over his problem around the same time, once you obtain the Phoenix esper. But it didn't happen overnight - at the start of the game he was hitting on every single female character out of sheer emotional dependence. Eventually though, he and Celes end up going through a lot together and he stops being frivolous about his feelings.

The defining moment for Celes' developement was probably in the Magitek Factory when Locke doubted her. When she realized, later on, that he truly did learn to accept her and to trust her, she grows much closer to him. In fact he's arguably her greatest motivation for setting out and trying to find the others (particularly if you let Cid die and she finds the gull with Locke's bandanna.)

Locke and Celes complement each other. Terra, on the other hand, was on a journey to sort things out for herself. It wouldn't have ended as well if Celes ended up alone and Locke found himself with someone who doesn't know enough about love to make him get over Rachelle.

Just my opinion though. tongue.gif

To answer your question, no, you're certainly not the only one.

I myself don't really understand people who (a) seemed to think they were going to get together past the 3-party split or so and (b) seem to think that they work better than Locke and Celes, but to each her own.

Certainly I think Square made it clear that story-wise it's Locke and Celes, but if that doesn't please you, well -- that's what fanon's for, am I right?

I am part of the school of Locke-Celes.

why? i agree with silverlance. the kind of love that terra needs and eventually found is not the same as the kind that celes is trying to find.

i have always left terra out of pairs, because she wants to be accepted by the world. maybe she would find someone, not in the party, but i have always seen her future as this: she grows older with the children of the orphanage, beloved by all, helping out everyone after kefka's defeat.

At first I thought it was going to be Locke and Terra becuase he's the one that saves her. But after Celes entered, it got pretty clear, especially when she asked him why he saved her, that something was gonna develop there. But I was kinda disappointed that Edgar didn't get any =) I thought he was hilarious.
Oh well, call me shallow, but I think the reason of why I like Celes and Locke together is because her menu pic is beautiful and I like Locke's personality. If it were any uglier I'd probably prefer Locke+Terra. Hey....Looks count to a certain extent okay pinch.gif thats why the main character's usually good looking cool.gif

The reason for Locke's short period of stronger feelings towards Terra comes, IMHO, from the simple fact, that he learned she had amnesia when he rescued her from the Caves of Narshe (I couldn't resist tongue.gif )
In that moment the situation seemed to him as a mirror image of what happenned to Rachel. I don't know whether he really harbored any romantic feelings towards Terra back then, or was he just trying to reedem himself in his own eyes, but Terra was only a paralelle to Rachel.
Celes, on the other hand, had problems of her own. She betrayed people she had sworn loyalty to, because she came to understand what atrocities they were committing. After her escape from Narshe the only person that has shown her trust was Locke and slowly but surely she started feeling something more than brotherhood (sisterhood?) of arms with him. For Locke's side, love for Celes was something new and fresh, completely independant from anything he ever felt for Rachel. The final turning point was when he woke her with the Phoenix magicite and she told him, IIRC, to live on and be happy (or something along those lines).
Celes needed to cope with her past, Locke had problems leaving his. They complemented each other in a way.

As for Terra/Edgar, I'm all for it. Just give her a couple more years.

Edgar just wants whatever he can get, and if you ask me, he just might be the one to find out if Gogo is a male or a female. wink.gif
