Personally I felt the game could have given Strago a few more Lore abilities. What do you think. He was fairly powerful as he was with Whitewind, Step Mine, Grand Train, and Aqua Rake but there were a few enemy attacks I though he would obtain thet you couldn't get. Absolute Zero was one and the blue flame one that looked like St.Elmos Fire from FF7, Mog also has it in one of his dances. There were quite a few other cool looking spells I feel would have done him justice to give him. Anyone have any ideas. Also anyone see the resemblance between he and Galuf and Relm and Krile form FF5. I think this is more evidence that they in some way are supposed to have links to other FF titles. Correction. St.Elmos Fire was called Elf Fire in FF6. Lode Stone and S. Cross would have been nice too.

True, but, i believe his attacks were just fine. Not too many and still plenty to use. He isn't one of my fav characters and i only need a few more lores and hes finished, but hes still a pretty good character if he's lvl 99 with 9999 health so when he uses white wind, u gain all ur hp back to full.

Ooh! Ooh! Me!
I personally love using Strago, because of his Lores, and I've been disappointed that he doesn't really get a full repertoire of "blue magic" (as indicated by the momentary blue aura that surrounds Gau/Strago/Gogo when they're cast). I'd personally love to see such attacks as Elf Fire, Magnitude8 (the only non-all-targetting earth spell you can get), Absolute 0, Gigavolt, Shrapnel, Flash Rain, N. Cross, S. Cross, Meteo, and others be part of Strago's repertoire. Even better if they replace some of the less-useful lores, such as Stone, Dischord, and Rippler. (I started making a much more expanded blue magic repertoire for the FF-style game I'm creating.) -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I Thought Stragos Lores were just fine. But i never did get all of his lores because i could never find half the monsters who he learns his Blue Magick from.

N. Cross on a controllabe character would be another version of Gau's Nightshade buffoonery, as nothing is immune to Freeze.

i like them all the way it was. if there are too many, then i get confused. like with Gau's rages. too few, then its more like a few special attacks.

Cross, S. Cross, Meteo, and others be part of Strago's repertoire. Even better if they replace some of the less-useful lores, such as Stone, Dischord, and Rippler. Most of these lores only cause physical damage and/or have similare effect. On the other hand, the lores you'd be dropping are very beneficial, especially in a low-level game. Dischord makes it possible to survive some of the tougher random encounters. Stone can hit for massive damage and can cause muddle, which is arguably one of the better status ailments to hit enemies with in an LLG. As for Rippler, that's possibly his most useful lore: it swaps ANY, and I do mean ANY, status ailments. This includes Shadow's "Interceptor block," and many of the more annoying perks some bosses get. I think Strago's lores were fine - there was 24 of them, which is quite a lot. Very few of them solely do damage; they all have some special use. Some thing ARE missing, like decent earth-elemental attacks or being able to cause some of the enemy-only status ailments, but you'll find Lore effects that no other spell has, which already sets it in a category of its own. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Er... pretty much everything.
Spells generally either cause/head damage, status ailments, or both. Lores on the other hand often have added extras, such as unusual targetting (Lv.x spells, Roulette...), unlikely status-related effects (Rippler, Dischord), special damage formulas (Stone, StepMine, Whitewind), and just plain unusual things (ForceField...) Very few lores simply cause/heal damage or status like pretty much all other spells do (in fact, I can't think off-hand of a spell that does anything aside from those two things.) -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

That's a spell of unusual function. Now, still, I highly agree with you about how many of them have quite non-standard effects. I also see why you say that they could easily become part of a LLG strategy or something like that. Although I guess the reason why I never used them much is because I never got into LLG-type of stuff... -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. What's Whitewind? Do you mean PearlWind? And what does Forcefield do, just so I can know in advance?

Forcefield nulls a random element for the rest of the battle when you cast it. Forcefield's effect takes precedence over individual character's/monster's elemental properties.
