Ok im just curioius to see what ideas/features everyone here at CoN thinks should be included in future final fantasy games.

First of all, i would like to see squenix make good use of the PS3's motion sensing controllers. it would be fun to drive vehicles with it (provided we actually can drive them, FFXII), among other things.

When it comes to battle systems, i am undecided. i am really attatched to the old active time system from 6-9. however, i became somewhat addicted to FFXII's realism.

Though i did like FFXII's political elements, i didn't feel like part of the story. the character's aren't very lasting in my opinion, so i would like to see more backstory to them in future FFs. i also was somewhat upset with the lack of plot twists/events in FFXII. i think that the future FFs need much more attention given to the story than FFXII.

so what would you add/change to future final fantasys?

Darn, I've gotta' pick up FFXII, but money's been kinda' tight and I only provide for myself sad.gif .
As far as future FFs, the realism from FFXII like you said would be pretty cool. I hope they make more FFs with FFII's leveling system. The fact that you level up certain stats, weapon masteries, and magic spells based on how the individual characters perform provides a fun, customizable combat system. That's all I could think of for now as state-of-the-art graphics, engaging storyline, and intricate plot developments need no mention, I think.

It's been done many times in the series...but I honestly want to see more games with the Job system. Mix the gameplay of Crystal Chronicles (Minus the carrying that whatever the hell it is thing and standing in a circle) in and I think it would make a nice game.

FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. I mean, look at that CGI scan of Yang. You see it and you just think...badass. And then you look at his polka-dot pants, likely stolen from a Dr. Seuss book. And then you just...shiver.

I want characters that I care about, like the ones in FF IV and VI. That's the main thing to me.

Combat system: Anything goes really, i wouldn't require the job system to be featured, but the combat system needs to be fun, unrepetitive and the characters needs to be customizable. Every single boss would have to require a strategy (more should exist, depending on how you've developed your characters) to avoid the boring ''buff up characters, kill boss dead''. The difficulty would also need to be hard without being annoying and requiring you to use tents every 2 / 3 battles. This is difficult to make, but that's what i would like to see smile.gif

Story / characters: As some people have stated above, having characters with unique personalities is good, and feeling attached to those characters is even better!

EPIC BATTLES!
this is crucial, the moment where you really feel like a part of a grand battle, not necesarily with an army on each side (which would rock though). By epic battles, i also think battles like FFV party vs Exdeath
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
galuf dies
.

other examples:
FF8:
Disposal of galbadian army at dollet, entering the city by boat was awesome!
the Garden vs Garden fight was cool aswell

FF6:
long time since i played the game, but i remember some raid on the empire (attacking by airship), correct me if i am wrong, but you get my point, that is / could be epic wink.gif

Extra content!
and freaking lots of it. I'm talking multiple huge dungeons, with optional bosses, only reachable by doing certain stuff at certain points in the game, and only beatable with incredible tactics, gear and levels (should not be killable by level 1 parties -.-)

That's about all i can think of at the moment

--------------------
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Broccoli to die.

All i hope for is that it feels like a classic. Sorry, but i didnt like 12, or the battle system, maybe im an old gamer, but i think they should keep it away from that FF11 style.

More character customization, basically build the character from the ground out with the ability to choose the job class on you're own. What i mean by that is build up things like agility, dex, con, Mblock, mp, h, str, def, luc, all that sorta stuff, but have a certain number of creation points you can have for you're character.

Customizable summons, again like building you're character build them from the ground up.

More level/hp based weapons and armor. Weapons and armor that get more powerful depending on you're hp and level.

A larger magic pool, an more diverse range of magic users, or magic attack combos.

More job classes, and easier to customize a job class pool. Have some creation points to help you learn a few skills of that job class early, or make it easier to max out you're stats like devoting a certain number of points to lowering some of you're exp to next level.

Add a larger move pool, more attacks and more unison attacks. Like a magic arrow that combines archer arrows with black mage or geomancer skills. Plus skills for archers that increase accuracy like a move called hawk eye or something.

Fire Emblem style "random" stat gain. Different characters would have a different percentage chance that a given stat would increase (For example, Cloud of FFVII might have an 80% chance that his Strength would increase, but only a 30% chance that his magic would, every time he gained a level). Though it has the potential to be annoying ("You're supposed to be the main character? Why the hell can't you kill anything!?"), it has never let me down in my playthroughs, and I can usually get at least two characters who the generic foes can't touch (6% chance of hitting for 0 damage! Yay.)

Also, a broad spectrum of characters would be great (and in my opinion, almost essential with the above stat growth system). Not all of them would have to be named, or have a significant story (as long as the ones that lack these elements were purely optional), but having a wide range of diverse characters really makes me happy, as I feel like I have more control in the game.

Welcome to final fantasy tactics.

It's not a bad idea about having a random stat gain, however it could be tricky and complecated, espically if some one has a favorite character they want to get really good. The only way i could see that working is if you had special items you could get to manually raise a certain stat by a few points. Then at least they wouldnt be that bad off in defense.

One thing i'd really like to see is more random map generation in levels. It would make the levels some what more challenging and it would make it harder to escape critical dungeons.

I really think they need to do a spell over haul, like i said before a broader spectrum of spells. It seems like all the spells are fire, ice and thunder, but you dont have enough non elemental, water, earth, dark, light based spells, or what ever other element they have. It would be intersting to maybe have spells level up, similar to how they do in legend of legia. when you cast a spell a certain number of times it levels up, when it reaches level nine the spell does two things, and is way more powerful.

I would like to see..... hmmm, perhaps Jesus taking his magic eraser pen and wiping out FF8 during its conception smile.gif

Or perhaps its the fact that I felt FF8 was so poor that I enjoy the other installments more?
Or this one is really going to get me thinking...... Hmmm, maybe other games that I was playing at the time in their glory, overshadowed what might have been a brilliant Final Fantasy had I the sense to see it *ponders*

I'd like to see it come back to Nintendo. NOW.

Really though, a rich plot, good charecters, and lots, and lots of quality sidequests. I can't stress enough how much I enjoy just dinking around in a game. It's what made Ocarina of Time a hit with me, and Twilight Princess a flop. Really unique and well thought out environments too. Make me want to stay in your world.

And Nobou back... sad.gif

that is the sole reason why i quit playing the game within my first hour.

im really torn. i really like to see all the advancements and realism in the series, but at the same time, there are few things i enjoy more than sitting down with an old FF like IV or VI. very simple, but so addictingly fun.

I would really like to see a sofisticated dual wielding system, where you could choose to go commando with two swords or be defensive and swap to a shield.
Hm, maybe this could affect the characters' classes in some complicated way as well?tongue.gif

I'm pretty faithful to the 8-bit and 16-bit era of Final Fantasy. I know the franchise is known for it's amazing developments graphically, and how it's pioneered so much in the genre of rpg, but I am a fan of falling into random battles, gaining your average level, and fighting your basic bad guy on the left side of the screen.

I know SquareEnix will never throw back to the classic FF RPG style, but I can still hope. If they made a iv/v/vi style FF in the future, I might cream myself.
