Okay, I just finished the Floating Continent of FF6 Advance, and I noticed something that had somehow escaped my attention the other 5 or 6 times I had played the game. I am now looking for people to tell me I'm not the only person to have made this mistake:
 This is the sprite of Atma Weapon. The other 5 or 6 times I played the game through, I thought this sprite was strange, because it depicts something that looks like a Black Mage instead of a behemoth-like monster. Look at the sprite from top to bottom, instead of the correct bottom to top. That semicircle at the top of it could be the brim of Vivi's hat. Under it are two glowing eyes like any BM. Then you've got a blue outfit, two little hands in the middle, and two little blue feet at the bottom. Come on, hasn't anyone else looked at Atma's sprite and seen a Black Mage? I see it, but it looks like a very broken black mage.
The two "eyes" are spikes from its armor, whereas the circular "hat" thing is its tail. The bottom half of the sprite doesn't really match up with any black mage design though. I guess i see where you are coming from, but i dont expect this to be used for anything but the atmaweapon

I've always seen atma, but one i saw this screenshot, I see how it looks like a black mage.

i hated atma weapon because it took me forever to beat it, so i'd rather not think about it.

I agree that it "CAN" look like a black mage. It looks like it had gold eyes and a gold hat, but to me the body looks like a frog. This kinda thing usually happened to me back in the day, playing my SNES. Alot of the times, the sprites didnt look like what they where supposed to look like.

It's got Black Mage colours, but that's about the extent of it... unless I'm not looking at it right.

Maybe he was a prototype nu mou (FFTA). Like the nu mou he is seen using magic.

I'd just like to say that I'd never actually seen the Atma Weapon in that sprite until just now, and I always thought it just looked like a tangle of vines.

I don't think the developers made it on purpose, it's just a coincendence. It's not really looking like black mage though. But if you look long enough, you can see everything you want to see

If the FF creators wanted you to see a black mage, they probably would've made it a bit easier to spot. All I can see is the hat, the eyes, and the hands. I like the Gestahl - dog comparison. I can see that one.

I can hardly imagine that looking like a stable black mage. The only related resemblance I can see are the two "yellow" things on the sprite that looks like a BM's eyes. I never actually thought about Atma looking like a black mage, even now.
Probably the reason I can't see him as a BM is because the colors on the bottom make no sense to a real Black Mage. They wear white/green striped pants and a blue robe. This one has yellow all over in the bottom. Plus, the tail is too far off to actually match a real black mage's or Vivi's steepled hat. The only one that was well-accurate IMO was Silverlance's "Zieggy's got a gun" thread. This post has been edited by NeoEx-Death on 26th July 2007 19:06 |
