Hey, yeah, guys, my comp with RO has really screwed up, and I may have to get another one. I'm thinking of installing RO on this comp, but it's old and I don't know if it can handle the graphics with only 4mb graphic memory.

Would you guys happen to know if it would work?

Possibly.

If you go to the start menu, there is usually a ragnarok folder in the programs section. IIRC, (i'm at work again btw) there is a place you can set up you graphic options outside of RO. Also iirc, it lets you run a test to be sure that it will work with your settings.

If you manage to bring the game up, and have graphical issues, there are things u can do such as shutting down some background effects, and I believe alt+d in game brings up a slider for how detailed graphics are.

I hope it works, cuz ur acolyte, and my sage need to party, as in "Wooooo! Party!" and we need to party, as in go kill things. tongue.gif

Edit
Sadly, I've just discovered that the WoE for saturdays is at 2pm my time, so i will be unavailable EVERY SATURDAY because of #$%@ing work. sad.gif sad.gif

Fire Wall is the most effective/useful/efficient in PvE situations, especially early on leveling. Considering that you've gotten that far without it, I'd say you're fine. Additionally, having Cast Cancel and Free Cast skills make any of your spells near the effectiveness, if not greater.

I had my doubts about the sage, but I'm pretty darn near tempted to make my own... Cast Cancel + Free Cast is an amazing combo that yields frightening power.

Edit
And for those wondering, I believe the site and server itself is having internal problems. Might be down for a bit.

It's a crime to be a mage without Fire Wall.

Depends on your build. wink.gif Firewall is generally good to put points into though.

I've seen some ridiculously powerful mages that forego the fire-based spells and use ice spells in combination with thunder spells to cause massive damage. Which is a very solid alternative to Firewall; nothing says "LOL SUX!" more than being chased, casting firewall, and learning that the monster happens to be, oh, immune to fire. smile.gif

Same goes with ice spells though. It's good to have a backup, but skill points are fairly limited...

I definitely agree... but considering that the Reset Girl is a paltry 35000, I'd say that it's worth pumping Fire Wall in, say, Orc Dungeon until you get the rest of your skill set opened. For the most effective killing, I'd say that Frost Diver/Storm Gust into some Thunder/Jupitel Thunder is really the way to go.

The server's back up... thank goodness!

I had all evening to play, and the darn server was down for the beginning of it... sad.gif

I'm trying to lvl my merchant right now. I finally got him to the point i really wanted him at (able to sell items and discount & overcharge lv 10), and I ask myself, now what? continue leveling so I can sell more than 4 items at a time (i never sell out anyways...)

I think I wanna make this char a smith, but that's waaaaaay down the line. Even pumping str and vit, i'm having troubles with monsters sad.gif

Bah, I probably won't be on for a couple days or longer, as my comp's RAM has to be fixed or replaced.

If you don't see me on, for, like, over a week, feel free to take me off the guild.

Edit
My comp is fixed, just reinstalling RO and everything, as I was too stupid to save it on storage. wink.gif

Okay, so as a signal to all people who would like an elemental boost on their weapons, I have good news! (other than saving money on my car insurance!)

I recently discovered another great sage skill i was previously unaware of: the two (out of five) skills I can get as quest skills!

Create Converter: Makes scrolls that shift elements (like my abil, only in anybody use scroll form!)

Fire: 3 Scorpion Tail + 1 Empty Scroll
Water: 3 Snail's Shell + 1 Empty Scroll
Wind: 3 Rainbow Shell + 1 Empty Scroll
Earth: 3 Horn + 1 Empty Scroll

Not sure on the duration, but the abil to do lightning without having to farm for Wind of Verdues is a good thing. Rainbow Shells are a bit easier to get, too.

then i have to choose from one of four abilities: earth, wind, fire, or water, that I can use in combination with the corresponding scroll I make above, and change the element of a monster!

I'm thinking of getting the earth spell to switch enemy elements, so that I can mass fire things.

Feedback and item donation is appreciated.

Also, I have like 400 red herbs for Tawnee to convert. Talk to me when ur on!

Okay, I'm going to attempt this. I'm downloading as we speak, so as long as the university network isn't evil about this, I should be good.

After I downloaded the recent patch, I couldn't access the program anymore. Whenever I try, I just get this message:

Fatal ERROR

unable to load table class_tab.txt

Anyone know if I can manually fix this, or what this means exactly?

The latest patch has a note with it telling who to inform if you're having problems. My guess is there will be another patch within a couple of days to fix whatever problems you guys are having. Me, personally, I've been able to keep my merchant on without interruption longer than before the patch. So IDK really what's up.

Good luck to you both tho, it's been gettin lonely leveling all by my lonesome. Every time I'm on, nobody else is there sad.gif

Although: I did manage to get to the roots of the Ygg tree last night, and that map has nothing but plants on it. a ton of greens and reds, a lot of blues, a bunch of whites, and sparatic occurences of 3-7 shinings in one area.

I managed to get a romantic leaf off of a plant there, and sell it for 1mil last night.

Shining plants have a 0.01% chance of dropping Emps, so I'm gonna farm for awhile there anyways, so if you can't get on, I'll probably live tongue.gif

I reinstalled RO. I can start the program now!

...except I keep getting "Disconnected from Server" whenever I attempt to log on. eh.gif

I'll try it again later, see if it works.

FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. I mean, look at that CGI scan of Yang. You see it and you just think...badass. And then you look at his polka-dot pants, likely stolen from a Dr. Seuss book. And then you just...shiver.

Is this as fun as it looks? I just need a little extra shove before I download it.

It's pretty fun and addictive IMO. However, if you quickly get tired of levelling in dungeons and whatnot, this game might not be for you. This server has Warp NPCs though, making things a lot easier, and much less time-consuming. I honestly don't think I'd like legit RO as much because it seems like you'd just level in the same place over and over again, having to travel far if you want to find another levelling spot.

Edit
Damn, leilong describes things better. He actually gave advice, too... pinch.gif

It's like online video crack.

The REAL push is to find someone (probably from this site) that can give you background info and possibly a hand in equipment to get you started. The quicker the beginning goes, the quicker you can immerse yourself into the fun places.

If you start up, post your username and I'll see what I can do to help get you started when i'm online.

And don't plan on playing immediately when you download. Even a good download speed will take you 30 minutes to download (1gb file), and then another 5-10 min to backload all the patches.

Hmm...I think my connecting problem has something to do with the fact that it doesn't say that Anti Bot is enabled. I've run the patcher, but it always just says that there are no patches to download.

Anyone know anything that could help me out here?

I'm downloading the game now, but I have about 4 hours to go. I look forward to trying this out.

I have a couple of questions. I scanned through the thread and didn't see them; sorry if my eyes just missed them.

How is the leveling curve in this game?
Can you just walk up to other players and kill them? Is that frowned upon?
What job would be useful/helpful to the guild?

I'll try to answer:

The levelling isn't bad, and thanks to Warp NPCs you can teleport to nearly any place in the game. So when one dungeon starts getting slow for exp, you can find another, and members of the guild will generally help you with that.

You can't just walk up to people and kill em. laugh.gif However, there are PvP rooms, where you can battle with others or just chill. There is also the War of Emperium, where guilds battle each other and attempt to take over Guild Bases. We aren't doing this yet.

Well, we need healers, (Acolyte, Priest) but I honestly wouldn't start with one as my first character. (You can make up to 9 characters) Swordsman are kinda common in our guild, but if you want to make one, go for it. My first character was a Thief and I found it to be really enjoyable. Archers, while I have no experience with them, seem pretty fun. Merchants are almost essential for all players, but I wouldn't have one as my first character. Mages are cool too, though you might find it hard to play as they have low defense, unless you make it so.

Hope that helped. happy.gif

Well, as for my problem...I'm trying something. I think it'll work. I dumped all the patches in the Recycle Bin, and I'm repatching.

Edit
Aha, I've done it! Samurai Bob is back on RO!

I DID run the patcher sad.gif

The latest patch has a note with it telling who to inform if you're having problems. My guess is there will be another patch within a couple of days to fix whatever problems you guys are having. Me, personally, I've been able to keep my merchant on without interruption longer than before the patch. So IDK really what's up.

Just to let everyone know, I made a Merchant- Navarro.

So if Seine and Kelthas aren't on, try giving him a holler. happy.gif

I've been on quite a bit lately, it's fun. I'm a level 43/32 Swordie. Should I go for Crusader ASAP, or level some more first?

You level fast. ohmy.gif

You can Class Change as soon as your Job Level is 40, but I dunno much about the Swordsman. You could go for some extra job levels to learn more Swordsman skills.

BTW, incase you don't know, abilities you learn as a Swordsman will carry over to when you're a Knight/Crusader.

Edit
Just remembered, at your level you can party with Kelthas now. If Ebola isn't on, and you care to party, we can do a dungeon together or something.

I don't know what timezone you're in, but I'll probably be on about 7 hours from now, which will be 8pm Atlantic time. Maybe we should plan a CoN gathering?

I should be able to get around on that time.

As for Navarro, he's levelling quickly as well. I bought him some good equipment and he's been going to Payon ever since Level 13. He hasn't died once. I believe he's level 24 or so, now. Though I'll probably never have him join the guild, I can probably still have him make stuff for the guild. Would you guys rather have him as an Alchemist or a Blacksmith?
