What's the story behind the Atma monster? I know he was
Possible spoilers: highlight to view but where did he come from, and what was he doing all those years after the war of the magi? Any speculation is welcome. Was he created by the goddesses? How was he so powerful? Who did he fight for? i think he was either just left over from the war of the magi, or made by the goddesses to protect their statues.

Pretty much the only in-game information about him. A powerful monster created during the war, and it just so happens that he's still around for your party to promptly defeat. Edit: Ultima Buster on the other hand is a bit more enigmatic; if I'd have to guess he's another lost monster that was unleashed when the world went to ruin. My theory is that Ultima WEAPON and Ultima BUSTER were supposed to be Espers but something about them was flawed so the Warring Triad used them as their guardians instead.

Does anybody remember what he said during the batlle? That could be a big clue to his origins. It was something about the cosmos.

Since you posted the new version of the Atma (or "Ultima") Weapon speech, I feel the need to post the original, more enigmatic, but more classic version:

The monster only had its two names crunched together due to letter space restrictions. Both the name of the monster and sword is "Ultimatma Weapon".

its tough to say where the origin of the these are. there are just a few unpolished things about the game like the origin or these 2 creations. Some Square story writer somewhere knows whats up
