Have you guys seen these? They're kind of a bit of a fad, I guess, though I don't really see them around - mostly on athletes who give props to Lance for being a tough SOB. Lance Armstrong's cancer foundation sells these as a fundraiser for cancer research, for people who have been through it, love someone who has, or just wants to support cancer research. I am going to order some, and they only sell them in packs of 10. So does anyone want one? I'm probably going to order at least a pack anyway, and if anyone wants one they could just paypal me like fifty cents or seventy-five or whatever to mail them to you.

Let me know in like three or four days because I will probably offer them to coworkers, etc.

Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? Or perhaps buying a really good looking shirt?

Yeah, those have been around for a while actualy. I remember seeing comercials for the Lance Armestrong Foundation months ago and those were in it. I think there was one being made in a mold in the comercial I saw, however my inner Tellah kicked in and I can't realy remember. As for me, I don't have a paypal account or any other means of transfering funds over distances at the moment. I'd consider getting one otherwise. Oh well, that just means one other person can have one of these "lovely" yellow bands. Come on guys, its to help cure cancer.

I'll take one. Are you just finding out about them? They've been out for quite some time.

No, I haven't just heard about them, but I kept forgetting to order the bloody things.

Seriously, I haven't seen a single person wearing one that I noticed except for when I was back in Illinois hanging out with my marathon/triathalon buddies.

Ahhhh.. so that's what those things are for. At school we use them as ammo like rubber bands... just stretch and pull!

Yeah, I only found out about them a month ago or so. My friend had one. I broke it when I was messing around shooting them at him. I hit him once with it, then grabbed it to do it again and then, snap.........stupid bracelet.

Anyways, he was like now you have to buy one......... he has three...

Six years down the line, I wonder if anyone still sees many of these out and about? It definitely seems like the trend has largely died out, especially because the LiveStrong brand is so huge now, having a full line of clothing and shoes backed by Nike.

Here where i live, though, it seems like they're having a resurgence. I think at least part of that is due to the fact that the new, best-in-the-league (or close to it) soccer stadium opened this year with LiveStrong being the named sponsor of the park, which is why I'm curious if the bracelets are just popping up again here due to that, or if they might still be popular all over?

I don't see them around like they were 5-6 years ago, but I still see Livestrong-esque wristbands everywhere bearing a myriad of emblems and causes. The most popular ones are either the Livestrong originals, pink breast cancer awareness bands, or school colors bands for local high schools and universities.

I don't see them much either these days. I know my younger brother (who has just started uni) wears one, but it isn't a Livestrong band - afraid I don't know what it actually is for though. He's the only person I know that still wears one.

I didn't get it then, and I still don't get it now (yeah, I understand there's a sense of solidarity and all, but how about we donate to cancer research or something along those lines?), but to each his/her own, right?

Well, that's actually what the bracelets do - obviously there's some cost to produce them, but the foundation does use the money from the bracelets for cancer research. I don't know about the clothing line, it's probably just a dollar a shirt or something, but the bracelets were meant to give all profits right into the cancer research bucket, if I recall correctly.

That certainly mitigates things a bit, but shouldn't we just donate the money we would have spent buying the bracelet (and then some) directly to cancer research?

[I suppose I'm one to talk, however, never having donated to cancer research myself. And, so long as more money is going to cancer research, I don't think people are really complaining.]
