They're not hard as nails - they're basically liquidy, so cutting them or bludgeoning them is pointless. Try cutting water, or shooting it with a gun.
I wish there were more enemies like these - they require strategy. Most enemies are just "zomg *a-mashing occures* lol dead" These guys, you need to use up your resources before beating. Since they're the only monsters of this sort (practically) they're viewed as the black sheep enemy encounters of the game, so most people hate them... -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Yeah, it was just annoying to fight them. Especially if I was trying to do some MP conservation before a big battle. They really got to be a pain the neck. I always fight them though. I'm like George Bush, I never give up, and never run. Even when the enemy can't be defeated by stabbing the hell out of it.

They're great for leveling up though. I used to go to the Moon and just kick these guys' asses and level up before the final battle... It's great, and all you really gotta do is summon Titan or Bahamut and all of them are done.

I never bother fighting them unless a black mage has sufficient MP to kill them off. A sword dealing only 1 point of damage is sad... unless if it is Flandango in the GBA version.

Annoying? Not really. Easy to beat, and if I'm out of spells I just split.

It's not so much that they require strategy that's annoying - it's that they require a very simple strategy, and appear repeatedly with no additional challenge. The first ones you fight teach you that you have to use magic against them. After that, it's just wait for Rydia/Tellah/whoever's turn and that's the end of it.
On balance, they're just one thing that makes a high volume of random encounters annoying. -------------------- I hear the jury's still out on...science. That's it, you people have stood in my way long enough! I'm going to clown college! |

They don't annoy me. Paste them with the appropriate elemental black magic, depending on the flavor of pudding you're up against. If you're worried about MP, Psych (or Osmose, as it's now called) a magic user while Kain/Cecil/Edge cuts it to death.

I didn't like wasting all my magic on them, but then I discovered that I could make my magic user use Osmose on my other party members and suck away their MP. They don't need it for anything.

Not much.
Early game, all you need is an elemental rod. I personally tend to keep one of each in inventory until mid-to-late in the game. Late game, just use Ninja magic. It's not like you need to use it for anything else anyways. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

I liek to eat teh pudding.
No seriously, they're not really that hard. As long as you have a decent black mage or even a (insert element) rod, you'll be able to take care of them easily. DP also had good advice with using Ninja magic on them. I generally don't use Edge's spells since they kinda suck in most situations. On the surface of the moon, I may use his blitz on uh... moon puddings? -------------------- kame, tortue, tortuga, schildkröte, tartaruga, turtle "Arthur Dent?" "Yes." "Arthur Philip Dent?" "Yes." Yeah, I usually just run away from them to, as there's no point in wasting valuble MP on them.

Ugh, pudding monsters are annoying. I usually run away from them if I have the chance, with the exception of FFX. They were pretty easy to kill in that game.

They suck but they give you an excuse to use magic> Remember those one monsters on the moon, when I was a kid the reminded me of blow dryers. Theyre kind of gun shaped and i cant remember the name

Annoying? Yeah. Hard to beat? Not really. I just felt uncomfortable wasting my MPs on them.

Pudding monsters don't annoy me at all. XD Sure, I get a little miffed when my MP gets low but hey, that's what Osmose is for.
The only monsters that actually annoyed me were those big robotic heads in the final dungeon. D: The ones that cast Reflect on themselves and then would use big spells like Holy and Flare? It wasn't battling them that I minded so much as having to use all my items and magic fixing my poor, wounded party members after the fight... I LOVE those enemies, Celes of Blades! Those things were called Phase on the SNES, but are like EvilMask or something in the GBA release. They were my absolute favorite enemies in that game, if for no other reason than they destroyed your team with an unblockable dose of White, which is, IMO, the coolest looking spell in any FF game on the SNES. Not to mention he was just a gigantic face. Seriously, how much better does it get, really?
Plus, if you fight enough of them, he'll drop the Glass Mask for you. If I remember correctly, that is the highest defense helmet in the game. -------------------- Is PJ |

Yes,for Neptune's Knife...and that's the most annoying:you must kill all the puddings with him except for a white one,or he'll regenerate them.
