Has anyone read any particularly enjoyable fan fiction based on Final Final 6?

I'm currently reading quite a well written one based around what happened after the collapse of Kefka's Tower, it addresses the stuff that you'd expect to be needed for the clean up after the world's end, like Edgar going over the finances needed for repairing and enhancing parts of Figaro Castle
But the main theme of it appears to be he re-intoduction of magic to the world

Heres the link: http://www.icybrian.com/fanfic/anniefelis/

So, any other good fics out there?

Nope. I'm afraid I've never seen any... wink.gif

I got a special deal on a bulk buy of halfbaked sarcasm yesterday. happy.gif Worked out at £1.25 a kilo.

I have to actually admit that the best FF6 fanfics I've read are either in progress (Grace of God and Visions of Peace, both in CoN's site submissions section) or on CoN's FF6 fanfic section. Pretty much anything but Mog Soldiers really.

Hey, I know Annie Felis. Check out her art, too, if you have the time.

I don't read much fanfiction myself anymore, but some of the best stuff seen on the web has come from the All That Glitters is Cold contests at Icy's, especially the insanely competitive third one. Some recs/highlights:

Walkabout, winner of the third contest and a very epic piece.

Might-Have-Been, runner-up and characteristic of DK's excellent stuff. (His Forever Rachel is worth a look, too, if you like your stuff dark.)

Through the Chrysoberyl, another runner-up, by Themis, another big name in the fandom.

Role Playing by Adobe Scribe, who's in my opinion the best FF author currently writing. Her Final Fantasy Tarot Deck is a must-read; really I can't recommend it enough.

Inner Mission, for some crossover fun with FF9. By Zaphod Beeblebrox, whom I believe posts here under the name Luther Goldfist.

A lot of the stories I used to love (by Tamerine, mostly) have been gone for a while now, but Locke's Bandanna has always been a favorite of mine, and Margaret Rennie's The Thief's Tale is a classic of the fandom.

Sorry if I'm forgetting anyone; this was totally spur-of-the-moment.

Oh, er, well, I meant I knew her personally -- well, internet personally, if such a thing is possible. She has a lot of newer (better?) stuff, too, which I can't find an archive for and that I wish she'd submit here.

Well, if we're going to be making reference to the plethora of quality fanfiction to be found over at Icy's, don't forget to check out the fic Dimension Dementia by Margaret Rennie as well. Hilarious take about the clash between FFIII and FFVI.

An author must read if they are to write, I guess that's why all of them are crawling out of the woodwork here. wink.gif I feel a bit awkward propping up two pieces of whom the respective authors have already shown up in this thread, but they're far too humble and deserve much more credit than they've gotten.
  • Lothar Goldfist's Reflections is probably the most creative piece of fanfiction I've ever read; a dark alternate universe done right.
  • L. Cully's The Good Neighbours won't even feel like it's set in the same world. I think that's half the attraction of this humble piece.
Both were submitted for various All That Glitters is Gold contests, so my fingers are crossed for this year's edition (hint hint, Lothar).

But enough furious wanking over Icy's gathering of gatherings.
  • Guardian-381's Dreams of Love and Pride breathes fire into the lump of coal that is my heart.
  • Snow Duchess's Beneath the Guise is absolutely the best thing I've read this year, and that includes C.S. Forester's Hornblower set. Alright, perhaps that's a bit overboard, but Her Grace really channels all facets of Celes.

There's so much more to list but so little time...

Since we are coming out of the woodwork, there's also my in-progress FF6 after-game fic The Balance and Contrast of Y&Y (Yin and Yang), though if you've looked for others in Site Submissions you already know it's there.
