right, to the point- im not sure what to do in FF2. i walk over to fynn, right at the start of the game, and nothing happens, at all. if i speak to the soldiers, they waste me. i just wander around, not sure what to do, so how do i start the game of then?
i saw an airship go past on my way to the town. is this related to what i do next?

It would probably be best to stay next to that first town and level up some. GameFaqs FF2 Leveling up Guide
The best way I find is to enter a command and cancel until your first two guys are really powered up.
I don't think the airship comes into play until around mid-game, but I'm not sure exactly when.
