ur right i looked it up and the darkrai events have not happend so my friend must have used hacks.

Does your friend have the Japanese version?

In the Japanese version of Diamond/Pearl, there was a glitch that caused a door to appear in the Pokemon League. Through this door, you could go get Darkrai and Shayman, but there was a chance you'd lose your saved game data. I don't know anything more about the glitch and it's impossible to do in any other version.

Or maybe they used a hack. Just throwing it out there.

@ Leilong: The problem with that is that you may never be able to enter a tournament now. At all/most pokemon tournies, they check not only your party but also all your PC boxes and your bag to check if you hacked. If they find hacked pokemon or anything suspicious (like, say, hundreds of rare candies), they can immediately disqualify you without any defense on your part. Just a heads up. Even if your pokemon are legit you can be disqualified if they are suspected of being hacked.

One of my friends tried to go to one of the Gamestop tourney a few weeks ago. A few of his party members had perfect IVs and natures and everything. And he had boxes just filled with godly pokemon (not ubers/legendaries, just madd good pokemon with perfect IVs and such). They wouldn't let him in because they suspected him of hacking their stats.

@ King Eddy: Do you have any source for that rumor? I haven't heard of any way to get those pokemon aside from hacking or future Nintendo events.

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl

Go down to the "Japanese version glitches". It touches on it vaguely there.

Elite Four Door Glitch Guide

I can't remember if that's where I first heard of it. I thought I first heard of it on Serebii.net, but I can't find it anymore.

Wow. That is actually really interesting. I would actually try that, but I don't want to lose my pokemon in the process. Thanks for the links, King Eddy!

No prob, Caesar.

Now, my sister went into the Old Chateau in Eterna Forest. She went to the back where there's a long hallway with lots of rooms. She entered the room second to last on the right from the entrance and she was stopped in the doorway. She could see in the room beside her a little girl walking out of that room. Then, she regained control. She never saw her again. The end.

Who is she? Does she have a purpose in the game?

There's a chance you see her if you walk into that particular room. She has no story relevance, just there to freak you out.

There's also an old man in the dining room, he also appears by chance.

FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. I mean, look at that CGI scan of Yang. You see it and you just think...badass. And then you look at his polka-dot pants, likely stolen from a Dr. Seuss book. And then you just...shiver.

Just go to the DS's time and change the clock manually.

It refreshing to see someone revive this!

Yes and No to your question DK: The time is based of your current DS system time. It accounts or a spicific amount of accuracy in the game. Pre-Elite four, it's not that big of a deal to do, but as you continue to, "Catch them all," you will find that resetting your system time can slow transfers, as you can only transfer 6 pokemon per day from old games (ruby, sapphire, emrald, firered, and leafgreen), if the game identifies that the current system time does not match the system time at the last game save (it must have an internal clock in the game as well as following the DS clock), it will ask if you want to syncronize the times, and then causes a delay of 24 hours before you can transfer again. (that's 24 real hours, with no way around it. sad.gif )

I also recently purchased a Pearl to compliment my Diamond, as I wanted to play through the game again, and I didn't want to erase my game. I then proceeded to defile the new game by trading for a Darkrai from my cousin, who is a fan of the action replay.

The cool thing about my pearl game tho, is that I transferred a fully legitimately created team over to try out for my playthrough: Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, and Glaceon. The only downside to the team so far is that there is nobody who can Fly, so I'm tending to level a LOT more than normal, causing some insubordinate behavior amongst the ranks. I traded them with HMs learned: Umbreon with Cut, Leafeon with Rock Smash, Vaporeon with Surf and Waterfall, Jolteon with Strength. Nobody would learn Rock Climb or Fly. sad.gif

They are really fun to use! Especially Glaceon, as I bred 7 eevees, and then proceeded to evolve them all below lv 5. and transfer the 6 for the team over (as my Espeon is my Contest Sweeper), and grow them from low levels. At around lv 17 or so, each incarnation of Eevee learns their first attack of their element, and Glaceon's is brilliant, as it attacks teams, and has as special attack stat of 55, which isn't fantastic by any means, but saying that my Flareon is still functioning off of ember, it's all good.

Right now in the game, I need to beat the 5th gym so I can raise my pokemon control from lv 30 to 50, which is proving to be a problem, as my team is all lv 29, with the exception of Umbreon, who I've been ignoring at lv 27 so he can tank his way through the ghosts at the next gym. I worry if he stops listening to me tho, because he currently has 2 dark attacks, and 2 normal attacks, which means insubordination could result in a very all-or-nothing battle strategy.

Edit
Darn you Aether Master! You answered the question before I could post! Oh well, i had more to say anyway...

Sorry Leilong. biggrin.gif

Oh, well, I was really excited about getting the game and even reserved a copy of each game a few months before it's release but alas, I couldn't get past the Water gym. I'd certainly like to start the game over just to get a feel of the game again since I'm playing through most of my games again. tongue.gif

i liked the earlier pokemon games better. this one is the worst or i think its irritating that u cant have more then 1 file cause after u beat the game theres nothing to do and you dont want to delete your game cause u spent so much darn time training and obtaining your pokemon.
its an rpg with no side quests and the only way to get all the pokemon is to by like 5 different games and do some special events in other states.

the next pokemon better be a better game.

After this long while, I've found that I really like Diamond/Pearl for how encompassing it is, but I also don't enjoy it like when I was playing Gold/Silver back in seventh and eighth grade. I reached 440-some pokemon a month or so ago and I haven't touched it since, but after a short hiatus I I'm sure I wouldn't mind busting it out for some trades or battles.

Just throwin this out there: the older Pokemon games also only allow one file. So saying that Diamond/Pearl is worse because it, too, only allows one file kind of makes no sense.

I never really minded not being able to get all the pokemon. There are really only a few pokemon that I really like and want to use, and having a Trick Room team eliminates most of them, too. There are only so many good (or usable) slow pokemon out there, and most of them are obtainable with only one copy of Pearl. The most notable exception, of course, being my physical sweeper, Shuckle. Pineco is Emerald-exclusive also, but he doesn't matter to me as much.

And yes, I am still really into this game. Even after well over 200 hours of gameplay, I still find ways to keep myself busy. I found that I am a huge fan of making terrible pokemon usable; for example, my Shuckle can (and has) sweep entire teams no problem, my Muk can actually last really long and take out a good handful of the other team, and Machamp has been known to OHKO any and all pokemon it faces with a 100% accurate Dynamic Punch. There's nothing better in my mind than one-shotting a Metagross, Salamence, Garchomp, Tyranitar, or Skarmory with a Shuckle or a Hitmonlee. Never gets old.

what about catching every single pokemon after beating the elite 4, or beating the battle tower?

I don't really see why you would want to continue the game after you've collected all of the Pokémon, but whatever floats your boat. And, besides, if you were really obsessed with starting a new file, you could just get a different game, or just get the opposite version of the game you have.

Not only that, but you could just trade other people to get the other Pokémon you needed, rather than "doing special events in other states". If you were really intent on "catching 'em all" you would just trade. It's not that hard to get wireless Internet if you don't already have it. Getting all of the Pokémon can be considered a side quest, since the only real storyline objective of the game is to collect all of the Gym badges and beat the Elite Four.

How the heck are you one-shotting anything with a Shuckle? Or is it a Trick Room/that moves that swaps Attack and Defense, and Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense combo?

Shuckle, I tend to find, it a better tank/annoyer. Wrap, Toxic, Double Team, Rest ftw!

Trick Room, Power Trick, Gyro Ball. At level 100, this gives him 610 attack, 496 Special Defense, and 16 Speed, making Gyro Ball 150 power steel-type. 150 power move, 610 attack, few resistances to steel type, first strike = gg. He has EQ for hitting Electric types and Natural Gift (electric) to hit Water types. He is a beast.

Sometimes Trick Room isn't even necessary since his Sp Def is so high. Sometimes late game I find that people save some special-based pokemon (like Blissey, Starmie, Gengar, Mence), which is just an invitation for Shuckle to come in, set up, and one-shot. He can really take fistfuls of special hits before he dies so he is a fantastic counter. If you're lucky, they'll switch out the gengar right when you're about to attack so you get a OHKO on someone else (maybe a wall!).

There are some points you have there that i agree with you with. However, part of what pokemon is about is battling, which is why they added the battle tower, wifi battling, which allows you to battle with anyone in the world, and now wifi trading, which allows you to trade anywhere in the world. Alot of the breeding features i dont like, like all these different insence you have to find, but all and all i think it's a pretty decent game. It could use more story after the elite four sure but also thats when you can do things like contests, catch new pokemon that werent avalible before, breed for shinies, and even work on you're pokedex and find out intersting new facts. The only real problem i have with the series is for some reason every game now seems to have some sort of pikachu clone in it. I was with pokemon from the very begining, so my old blue version has a speical place in my heart, however this one grew on me quickly. If it werent for the online tradeing feature, i wouldnt of completed the sinnon pokedex.

I think I might agree with blizzera god on this one. Pokemon yellow has to be the game ive played the most, and yet I've never have gotten a Fearow. And who doesnit like the super charged Ampharoas? This game was quite a let down to me. Maybe if i chose different pokemon, or I leveled up more, who knows.

I don't like the online trading. Why, because of the people that are like LOL LEVEL 1 INFERNAPE FOR A LEVEL 100 DIALGA!!!!!!1!!eleven

Those people are trying to utilize a glitch in the GTS which allows you to clone you're pokemon. GameFAQS.com has a walkthru that states you should try and do some ridiculous or impposible level for some pokemon you want in exchange for the pokemon you are trying to clone, so people cant pick off you're pokemon. With hackers around though it's a risky venture.

Steel hits everything for normal effectiveness except Water, Fire, Electric, and other Steel types. EQ hits the latter three super effective and an Electric-type Natural Gift hits Water types dead.

I'm like i said partly in agreement with people that these newer games arent as good as the older ones. I am likeing alot of the new features though, like new evovlutions of older pokemon (why did it take eevee so long to get a grass evovlution?) and some of the newer pokemon they are making are just plain fun. Plus like i said i like the GTS, this makes doing the lottery system alot easier cause you can get a wider range of trainer ID's than you could other wise (unless you had millions of friends.). Plus this also allows you for the first time to get the event pokemon you want with out having to go to the event, lots of people trade the even pokemon over the GTS. I also like the idea of wifi battling through the web too, this would allow you to hold tournaments with you're friends even if they dont live near you. One aspect that i like that they have kept through three generations of the game is the move thief. I kind of like being able to steal items from pokemon, it makes it seem kinda divous.
However they keep adding things that last one game and then are never mentioned again. Like the apricorn pokeballs, sure this was a pain to do collecting one a day and then going to make the ball, but it also explained a few things, and later one it just became fun doing. This whole business with things like the pokegear needs to stop though. I mean the pokegear was fine, they didnt need to go making different incarnations when the original worked just fine. Or how they have some preevolutions of pokemon that were in other games before and are like "well the reason you couldnt breed them before is because you didnt have this item." which doesnt really make any sense at all. Plus i am not liking how they didnt allow you to trade over all you're hard trained pokemon from RBYGSC to the newer games, but instead had to make all new ones.
Be that as it may, i find that the pokemon world is becomeing more diverse and is starting to get alot of creative pokemon, even if some are just clones of others (like feebas or plusle and minion), and what makes it more intresting (and more annyoning at the same time) is how the different games have one legendary in them and the other doesnt.
If they follow suite like thy have been doing all along there it going to be some special edition of the the newer games released sometime soon, i am wondering what additions will be too the game, and what color it is going to be featuring.

In terms of a third game, I don't think they will, just because it seems that pretty much all functionality is there.

In terms of "color" for the game, the important thing to note is the shinoh mythology. There were 3 legendary dragons: Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. Dialga being the time controller, Palkia being the Space controller, and Giratina being the controller of the negative time-space.

A third game should hopefully follow up with Giratina, but that would be an entirely different game if Giratina was the primary legendary. In terms of the name, Dialga = Diamond, Palkia = Pearl, Giratina = Garnet?

If anyone else has any other ideas on that, lemmie know.

God, I hope it's not a Darkrai based game tho tongue.gif
It would be helpful if they made that game the source of the gifts for the last 3 tho, I've still got a master ball just for Arceus. thumbup.gif

i think its gonna be a darkrai game. i think if they dont change the way they're making the new ones people wont buy them. and theres no point in having 2 or 3 games that are almost the same game released.

i played a old Japanese pokemon game called pearl and it rocked!

I hope it's not Darkrai, either. Although leilong's reasoning seems to fit the expected trend really well, I don't want to believe that the next game will be based around Giratina. Well, maybe that's not the best wording since the others aren't "based around" the legendaries. I guess "featuring" would be a better word choice.

I think it would be nice to finally have a legitimate way to get Arceus. He'd likely make the third game interesting.

The one thing I really hope for, though, is some place that gives great exp. Although I haven't played the third gen games very much at all, one of my friends told me that there was a place either in Emerald or in Colosseum (or XD maybe?) that gave mass experience and made it easier to level to 100. Although wifi boosts the pokemon to level 100 automatically for battles, it'd be nice to actually raise my pokemon that high normally.

Ah, Pokémon. Those games owned my life when I was younger. Started off with Yellow, where I got a really decent game(Mew and everything). But somehow my game got deleted.
Still haven't gotten over that sad.gif
After that I played Silver, where I got an even better game(six lvl. 100) and got infected by the
mysterious syndrome(what was that?).
Played some Ruby, but the new Pokémon didn't really appeal to me. So I stopped playing.
But lately I've been attracted against Fire Red and Leaf Green. Maybe Diamond and Pearl is worth a shot too?

In the wide-world of my EV training:

Vaporeon has taken a backseat to my new endeavor: The perfect Onix to make into Steelix!

I plan to have him nightmarishly equipped. When he becomes a Steelix, he will have STAB on Iron Tail and Earthquake. Those attacks alone leave him with detriments on attacking 4 types: Water, Grass, Bug, and Flying. So, stealing an Idea from Caesar on the natural gift, Electric on the berry drops off Water and flying, leaving Grass and Bug as the only low hits.

I bred an Onix with the right IVs to have a Fire Hidden Power.

Pwned!

I started breedng Onixes for maximum stats (releasing close to 30 rejects). When I realized... Duh! Max stats may not have the HP I wanted, so I saved, cranked up the level on an onix to 9ish in the victory road cave, then beat down Starlys, Budews, Bidoofs, Kricketots, Shinxes, Zubats, and Geodudes north of jubilife. Those pokemon make it possible to 100% determine type as long as it's not Dragon or Dark, tho I would have hunted down an Abra to determine that if necessary. tongue.gif

Although i have Diamond, Kecleons are hard to find, and it actually took longer to hunt a single Kec that to beat-test. Also, the move checker app is beautiful for this. If a hit was normal effectiveness, I crossed off (i made a list) I crossed off all possible types that would have been super effective or not very effective, find a different pokemon, and repeat. After I knew the element, (based on a never changing IV) I would reset the power, and boom! No unwanted EVs, no massive level skipping, and I would have the Hidden Power to test the next Onix with. tongue.gif

Becuase of the mass breeding I did, I've ended up with a Top 10 Onixes. Their HPs are as follows:

1 Bug HP
2 Ground HP
1 Fire HP
2 Ghost HP
1 Poison HP
2 Steel HP
1 Rock HP

The steels (regrettably) are the most IV boosted, the fire being the runt of the litter. I may train one steel and the fire and compare to see how much difference it really makes in the end.

I was also reading somewhere about someone dissing on EV training a pokemon in a certain stat by saying:
Quote
That makes about as much sense as EV training a shedinja in HP.

I had to see what made Shedinja so bad at HP, suprised to discover he only ever has ONE hit point... ever!

Having full immunity to everything but fire, flying, rock, ghost, and dark is a pretty good tradeoff tho. It provides a few uninterrupted hits. I just bred a Nincada that knows Bug Buzz (a great egg move btw) and I'm gonna grow him up to about lv 15 or so in the nursery, and then EV the crap out of him after that. I figured that I'd EV train him in Def and Sp. Def tongue.gif ... ... Yea... Right...
Speed and whatever Atk is more useful to the moveset more like.

Edit
Okay... I'm an idiot. A BIG idiot. Such a big idiot that I'm gonna leave this post as it was before the edit to understand how much idiot is involved in the idiot-ness...

leilong, I challenge your Steelix. Though I think mine needs some fixing.

It's a wall. Can stand up to pretty much anything one on one. Long battles are a problem, generally due to running out of PP. You'll see why. I had help with this moveset.

Stone Edge
Double Edge (Recoil nullified due to Rock Head, giving me a 100% accurate 120 power move!)
Protect
Toxic

I was tempted for Earthquake to replace Stone Edge, but advised against it, and so far, it's worked like a charm. I've given it 252 Defense EVs, and I think 252 Sp. Def EVs (I chose that because of it's nature, plus 10% to Sp.Def, - Speed). I'm not sure about the latter because the stats didn't rise as much as the Defense did, so I may have previously given him some Attack or Speed EVs.

He's been given Leftovers, so i'll leave it to you to figure out how i use that moveset.

I challenge both of your Steelixes with my Steelix!

Steelix (Awesome nature) @ Soul Dew
252 "r0x0r" EVs, 252 speed EVs

Explosion
Destiny Bond
Gravity
Sacred Fire

...

Ok so maybe he isn't real. What of it?

Steelix is a great pokemon and you two have just shown us why: he is fairly versitile. Granted, he can't make a very good special sweeper or special wall, but he is one of the best physical walls in the game (right next to Cloyster) and his attack stat isn't too shabby, either, which can be used to surprise opponants who weren't looking for a formidable attack in Steelix.

FBM has a great moveset for a wall/staller Steelix. Toxic/Protect/Leftovers is a great combination, especially considering his outrageous defense, good typing, and amount of types that that hits (Toxic kills everyone dead except Breloom and Steel types). However, you might want to consider EQ instead of SE or DE just so he has something to use against non-skarmory steel types. Magnezone with HP Fire or HP Ice could do some serious damage to your build. Also, Steelix is weak against fighting, which is a common type for pokemon with the Guts ability to have (such as Heracross, Ursaring, or Machamp). You don't want them to get an attack boost under any circumstance, but I honestly doubt you have to worry about them switching in on you.

Leilong, on the other hand, chose to hit the most types Super Effective as possible. Hidden Power isn't a great choice for Steelix due to his abominable Sp attack stat; Fire Fang would definitely be a better choice if you're worried about opposing Steel types. I've always loved Natural Gift because it can essentially fill any gap in typing, which is really nice. If you want an Electric type one, it is really easy for Steelix to pull off, since Pecha, the most common Electric berry, only activates when the user is poisoned, I believe. Steelix can't be poisoned so it'll never accidentally go off. Likewise with the Wacan berry, but that's less common and has the same power. I think Steelix serves as a better wall, but this build should still work fairly well. smile.gif
