Hey guys...always loved the forum, and will be here until at least my future job shoves me away for a while...
Anyways, i have a dilemma. My friend is beginning to become a final fantasy fan like me (and most people here), but he is a little estranged and, i guess, nervous to chat to people about how he feels on the games. I told him just express what you know, and they'll be cool about it (unless rules are broken), and that theyre always happy to help and are accepting to your'e newbie-ness to the series. Dont think im forcing him to join this forum...he really wants to!...but if people here could put words of encouragement, it would be great...especially since he's just recently gotten a higher-speed internet that that crummy dial up. PS: ill tell him or he'll see tham off my comp...either way he will get these comments. PPS: if in wrong section...please move it. Thx a bunch CoN people for the support!! -------------------- <DrkMagimaster282> MWAHAHA. I, DrkMagimaster282, shall wreak havoc and destroy... <Mother>TIIIIIIMMYYY...are you planning evil, unkind revenge again in the bathroom?? <DrkMagimaster282>UMMMMMMMM...NO. Moved to Greetings. You IDIOT.
We're always willing to see more people here. Those who show up with respect for everyone get it in return, that's all we ask. Besides, more people who show up and enjoy it make me want to work on the site more. Edit Just in case GMH's comment muddied the waters, I was in fact kidding. Here was my original post:
"I gotta say, this is one of the most welcoming forums I've ever seen on the internet, with some of the nicest and most reasonable people. The forums are kept very civil, and newbie-bashing is extremely rare--much, much rarer than the average around the internet." Well, okay, there's R51 calling someone an idiot. Just ignore that bit. And Climhazzard blowing up people's houses. Sorry, inside joke. (In case your friend is really becoming concerned, keep in mind that I am extremely anti-newb-bashing, and I often voluntarily and readily defend poor newbies who find themselves assaulted by verbal abuse.) -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Nervous about joining a forum and talking about video games? Well, I'll just echo Josh's statement: if he's civil to us, we're civil to him. What does your friend have to lose?

The internet's a free country. Your friend should do as he pleases - nobody's going to get in the way of his will so long as it's not anything rule-breaking.
Sorry, I think that's about as good as I can manage. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

I'd also advise your buddy not to pay attention to just this thread, but to actually read the regular posts on other forums. That'll probably be a better indicator of what we're like.

Now all joking aside, It's all at his leisure, He can join when he wants to Quote told him just express what you know, and they'll be cool about it (unless rules are broken), and that theyre always happy to help and are accepting to your'e newbie-ness to the series. It's a forum, not a support group. a forum is founded upon being open to others' ideas and opinions, and CoN does hold close to that, along with harsh punishment for spamming, but of course for anyone who's been to a forum that allows spamming, that's a good thing. -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

I'm new to the site, but not new to FF - And personally I enjoy helping people out. There's definately gratification to having your strategies help someone out, or slipping a good piece of information to someone when they ask a question. Maybe it's just me tho.

I remember when I joined, I was cocky and ungrateful. I believe I actually went back and edit/deleted the first post I ever made. Oddly enough, it was quoted, so even tho I deleted it, it still exists.
Just know that everyone here is real people (except maybe for climhazzard, I think he's whatever was in that mako reactor in Mt. But it's okay, because Josh gets mocked double when he's away for every time he mocks someone.
Magimaster, I think that your friend would be fine on the forums, and if he makes a good first impression in chat he'd be okay, as long as he avoids a certain couple of people. -------------------- Squenix games completed: Final Fantasy: 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, Tactics Advance 2 Chrono Trigger Dragon Quest: 7, 8, 11 Super Mario RPG |

I'm sorry..... you want us to post words of encouragement to a stranger so they will join?!?
Tell them to peruse the rest of the site and look at all of our threads as a whole. The idea of posting "feel good" stuff for an unknown is laughable to me. What are they afraid of?
