That the Octolot and Octovader enemies in Mario RPG (a Square game, for your information), look a lot like Octoroks from the Zelda games? -CSM

...not to mention that Link gets a cameo in the game as well. He shows up for a bit in Rose Town.
But yeah, I see the similarity, although I don't think this is that close. I noticed the similarity and the cameo as well, and it was pretty cool to an extent.
