I'm homeschooled and I love it (being homeschooled, not schoolwork in general.) I get to do most things at my own pace, and I get chances to do things that I wouldn't be able to do if I was in a public school (I have 8 technical college credits in programming and web gaphics.)
There is also a homeschool group in town that organizes activities and field trips. I did that kind of thing more when I was younger, but recently some of us got together for a dissection lab, which was cool. Yeah. -------------------- Status: FF6 -- Finished! Yeah! Public school from K through 10th grade. Not too terribly impressive.
Christian school for my junior and senior year. I liked the atmosphere, though the learning was sub-par by a tiny margin to public school in everything except english. English in that christian HS was awesome. Pensacola Christian College for one full year, pre-med and phys ed major. Hated this place. We called it Pensacola Concentration Camp. Southwestern Community College for 2.5 years, grad with AAS in Occupational Therapy. Loved it. My favorite of the bunch was SCC. Laid back atmosphere, good break times between classes, good down to earth classmates who were studying for a job, not for theory. Good teachers from diverse backgrounds that liked living in a small mountain community for retirement, to boot. -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

I go to South Grenville District High, In Ontario Canada. Home of the Hick.
Seriously, our school is sorely lacking in diversity. I honestly have a friend who distinguishes herself as "The Asian Girl" because she is one of four people of a different ethnicity than caucasian in our school. This may not seem like a big deal, but I this means I have to put up with a lot of racist hicks who know nothing about the cultures of the world (even country) they live in. Otherwise, I guess our school is okay. Underfunded, but okay. It's actually sort of a neatly structured school, and we mannage to support quite a few extra curiculars, although some clubs live sort of hand to mouth... (My drama club being one of them) The greatest redeeming feature at our school would probably be the teachers. There are some really supberb people in the staff. Even though I'm a bit of a "problem student" (work trouble )I get the impression that our teachers really want to help you, so long as you respect them. So SGDH isn't the worst place go, but not precisely the best. -------------------- TURKEY! - (The only way not to get blocked for using Fowl Language) |

Brewster High.... The atmosphere is great, the people are mostly friendly, teachers are great, classwork isn't too hard or too bothersome, and well, I hate school... So... Yeah

Tons of stuff to do, much better than high school, never bored, and I never have to spend time on the internet to keep myself occupied like I used to. They also send me to go to awesome places like New Orleans and Washington, D.C. to represent the mathematics department ![]() This post has been edited by FraudulentTommah on 16th April 2007 22:41 |

Gates Chili High. Rochester, NY.
The school used to be great, but we're undergoing some SERIOUS renovations and the whole palce is a mess. Some hallways are missing walls (we have like...plywood covered with paper in lou of walls) which really helps since we're having a significantly cold and messy winter/spring. My Economics classroom was measured to be no higher than 50° in the middle of winter, which I'm pretty sure is illegal. We were supposed to have tennis courts by Sept 1st, but we still don't have those, so we have no home courts and no place to practice for this season, limiting us to about 2 hours of practice per week. Also, one of our students was shot in a drive-by shooting last week by two former students and classmates. That kinda shook us up a little so now we have police all over our school during classes. That, plus noise from construction, plus ridiculously cold rooms equals a pretty nice learning environment. Aside from all that, though, the faculty is outstanding and the facilities are reasonably current and functional. Nothing outstanding like centrifuges or anything, but we have two computer labs, a handful of balances (accurate to four places), a good calorimeter and some other nice scientific equipment. In a few years it'll be an amazing school, but I'm glad to be leaving this year. Next year I'm going to Alfred University tomajor in Ceramic Engineering. It is possible for me to triple major in that, Glass Engineering, and Materials Science Engineering and graduate in four years, but it might be a little busy so I'm starting slow. ![]() -------------------- Is PJ |

It was horrible, man. You could only leave campus in groups of 4 or more, but no more than 8. You MUST have a senior in the group. You could only go to certain locations, and certain others were strictly forbidden. PCC actually HIRED seniors to patrol the off-limits places to ensure that no PCC students went to them. And you could tell us in public, too. We had to dress in shirt and tie and coat all the time, mandatory. Looking back, we must have looked like a travelling group of Jehovah's Witnesses going through the malls. ![]() Quote (Final Fantasy Guru) WOOT for florida peoples.... lol Brevard community college- Computer specialist tech. cert. major 20 minutes from the beach, 30 minutes from cocoa beach(one of the surf capitols of the world) the people are not assholes, parking's good, what more can i ask for???? lol ....could use some more girls..... but perhaps that would pertain to the classes i take.... not a whole lot of female PC geeks.... Its great at this college because not only are the teachers great and the campus clean and green (rhymeee...), but it was just released that our college is ranked 7th in public colleges in the US, 11th all-together, and 17th in the World...if that interests anybody. I met my girlfriend at the door of her all-female dorm once to walk her to breakfast at 7:55am.... I was reported for not adhering to social hours, which began at 8am. My punishment? I was not allowed to talk to any females except family or faculty for 2 weeks. I am not joking. I attend a community college close to home. Due to my work schedule, I can only be a part-time student. I still have quite a ways to go for my Associate's in Arts degree, then I'm going to transfer over to Columbia College Chicago. From home, I can easily take public transportation and I love downtown Chicago in general. Columbia has more classes that associate with the arts and creativity which is my passion!

Columbia still sends me literature for their MFA programs, which I thought about doing years ago. I don't know how they still find me. Depending on what you're wanting to do there, you better have your stuff prepared. I hear it's tough to get accepted in more than a few of their programs. I myself haven't been in school in... six years now, woo. I might think about trying it again in the next year or so, though. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

In highschool (2000-2003) I went to Lincoln High School in Lincoln, NE. We are probably the biggest small town in the country. The "gangstas" act tough, but we are still somewhat hindered by the sheer hickishness of everything around us. (there's even a city named Hickman in our outskirts!)
So I went to the "gangsta" school in Lincoln, the other 3-5 (we added 2 more schools in 2002) were all the preppy rich people, but Lincoln High was the "inner city" school. I was not a "gangsta," I was more of a Nerd/Poser Punk. I was the kid that drove to school in the beat up 81 mustang listening to Blink-182 with a skateboard in the back seat, and then went to Orchestra, Visual Basic Programming, and Chinese Language Class, then when I got out of school, I hung out with the goths, punks, and emos on smoker's corner (There was a roundabout in front of the school that is offically off school property, so the kids would walk to the other side of it and smoke right in front of the school!), then proceeded to drive my friends around because I was the only one with a car, and then skateboard at the skate park. I'd go home, program something stupid, listen to all the rock I thought was priceless at the time and turned into one-hit-wonders, played some guitar, played some video games, went to bed and repeated. Now I go to my local community college, which happens to be one the the best community colleges in the country. (i guess that's possible?) I know for a fact tho that it is one of only 100 some schools offically certified by the American Culinary Federation for their Culinary Arts program (cuz that's what I do), and the best part about that, is that the program is full of snobs and stoners, which make me the "numbah 1 motherf*#%in punk" there! So now I'm professional at work, a punk at school, and a gamer at home. Sorry, that kinda turned into a lame autobiography. ![]() -------------------- If internal struggles were as enjoyable and glamorous as the self conflicted wars within video game characters, we would all be statues, reveling in perpetual self war. -Me Play me on Rock Band 2, GH-WT, or any other Xbox GH! I went to a magnet school for nerds in high school, worked my ass off doing schoolwork, drumline, and quizbowl, and then got accepted into four of the five schools I applied for. I settled on UVA, and I love the place; it's a great, great school. However, I ended up changing my intended major four times in those two years and saw my grades steadily decline, so I ended up taking the next year (fall 2006 and spring 2007) off to get my **** together. In my year off I took some courses at GMU for basically no official credit (UVA won't accept non-University credits between official attendances unless it's from studying abroad, but I wanted to take some language and writing classes for fun), and I also worked full-time at a park near my house. Around a month ago I was officially re-accepted into the University, and I'll be taking classes in the upcoming summer and fall semesters, with a sixth major in mind after a year to think about it.
So yeah, that's my story. This post has been edited by laszlow on 24th April 2007 03:34 -------------------- |

I go to Barrington Municipal High School which is in Nova Scotia, Canada. It's the newest and most technologically advanced school in Nova Scotia as it was just built a year ago. Before that, BMHS was a mold-infested run-down piece of crap that gave people rashes and was apparently under a hole in the ozone (don't ask). The insulation was seaweed.
Even though we have a new school that's really nice looking and stuff, I think it's underfunded. Cafeteria prices are going up 10-25 cents because minimum wage is going up. People were going to have a walk out where we all brough our own lunches but the student council told us to reconsider. We're more or less in the middle of nowhere, just a bunch of hicks getting an education. Though most people say, "Hey, I got a 28 in English! Ha ha ha! It went down!". I don't know why they're so proud of doing crappily. All they do is drink, fight, skip, etc. No one even knows about Final Fantasy! I'd get laughed at if I said anything or brought my GBA to school and get accused of playing Pokemon, which is a crime in my society. Two more years and I'll finally get out of there! -------------------- Why, hello guys! I've been to so many different schools that I don't even remember all the names of them anymore. Elementary school was great - what's not to like about it? Middle school was the worst thing ever. High school - well, lets say extreme ups followed by extreme points of suck-iness. But - I only have four more days of it until I'm done with grade school forever.

I go to a fairly boring high school in California. Somehow, the school is able to keep the bullying rate low enough to breathe. The technology and facilities at school are sub-par though. Some of the kids at my school bring their Nintendo DS and GBA everyday. Pokemon, surprisingly, is widely played in the cooking area. I bet they wish they could cook a pika-burger
