Eternal Sonata - (Trailer + Gameplay)
I was reading through one of my old GI magazines, the one with all the TGS'06 games, and I was blown away by the SMALL article on a game called Eternal Sonata. A game made by Bandai-Namco for the XBOX 360, tells the story of a young musician on his death bed. It takes place during his life and his after life. The GI article said that the game will have to do a lot with music. The battle system fits perfectly in the game's fantasy setting. I mean WOW, Microsoft is sure doing a lot with the RPG gender. Eternal Sonata only adds up too the already growing number of promising RPGs that have been announced (Blue Dragon, Lost Oddysey). Can't wait. This should go a long way to quelling the usual bullshit line that Microsoft isn't trying to win the hearts of Japanese gamers. Cell-shaded graphics, RPG, classy fantasy world.
Anime-style, underaged female lead. -------------------- Visions of Peace - Four Generals, One Empire, and the Returners caught in the middle. |

Quote (Elessar @ 27th April 2007 03:12) This should go a long way to quelling the usual bullshit line that Microsoft isn't trying to win the hearts of Japanese gamers. Cell-shaded graphics, RPG, classy fantasy world. Anime-style, underaged female lead. I've actually never heard that. I sort of assumed Microsoft was a business, and, well, you know, sort of went for ALL markets it could. I don't know how much I can tell about the game from that Trailer. The animation looks great, but what does that mean? I'm actually rather impressed with the 360 thus far. Microsoft has really picked up the slack from the last gen and thrown a bone to the RPG fans out there. The 360 might actually work it's way to my buy list before the Wii if this keeps up. I'm interested to see what Mistwalker brings to the 360, personally. -------------------- If you've been mod-o-fied, It's an illusion, and you're in-between. It looks like a good game as long as they don't profane Chopin's awsomeness, and they keep it historically correct. EBgames.com says that Chopin died in 1948...I hope they accidentaly switched the 8 and 9. If they make his music a huge part of the game, it would be sweet.

I similarly can't stand such stuff as "Speed Over Beethoven" on DDR. Although this usage here in this trailer seems decent enough. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. It's...so beautiful. Rock on tri-Ace. I just can't wait for it.
It has been confirmed that Chopin's pieces will be in the game: Quote (Wikipedia) The game will not only feature a selection of Chopin's compositions played by the pianist Stanislav Bunin, but will also feature additional in-game music composed by Motoi Sakuraba.
