The Ratchet series has gotten far too camp for my tastes. I loved the ps 2 games, Tools of Destruction was nice, and some bits of Crack in Time were good, but the series has gotten kind of childish in the last couple games. Granted, it was always a bit childish, but now more so than ever. I fear that it'll end up like Spyro.

I think that the series' childishness is mostly due to the two somewhat lacking PSP games in the series. There was plenty of mature moments in ToD and CiT, and the time-manipulation puzzles in CiT are a major highlight in the series, IMO.
And also, I find that most people that complain about a series being too "childish" are usually just too childish themselves to say that they enjoy a game that's fun or colorful. I hear that label applied to Mario, Ratchet, and Dragon Quest games (and Pixar films) all the time, and I always imagine shortsighted teenage boys. I'm just sayin'. -------------------- |

Yes, there were some shining moments in the two games, but I'm mainly talking about interaction with Qwark and stuff like that. Outside of the serious moments, they just don't seem as driven or as serious as they did in Ratchet 1-4. I've always loved the colorful aspect of it, and it's cartoony-ness, but lately it seems to rely on slapstick more than previously. Although the bits about Ratchets past were very very good in the last two games.
