OK, enough Brawl nonsense. A variety of sources (like this and this) are reporting that the DS remake of Final Fantasy IV is hitting U.S. shelves this July. While that date sounds reasonable, I wouldn't call it 100% "confirmed" quite yet. All of the sources I'm reading are hesitant to name a source directly and there has been no official press release. Keep your fingers crossed.

Hey, if it's not going to be released in July and the report was fake, I don't think that the actual release date would be too far off from that. I read that Nintendo Power article, and it seems like they have the important basic stuff down (such as the battle system and character designs). They may even be over the halfway mark. They probably are.

Umm... the game actually was released in Japan last December. There's only translation and localization to do for the English version.

Localization times can differ quite strongly - Dragon Quest VIII spent nearly a year in translation while the DS remake of Final Fantasy III only had a few months in between the Japanese and English releases. A July release would put that difference right around six or seven months, which is a reasonable date.

Oh. Wow. I didn't know that it was already out in Japan. blink.gif (At least I know now so I don't sound stupid again. It was the magazine that led me to believe that, I swear!)

In that case, the rumor's probably true, or pretty close to being to.

Games always come out in Japan at least a few months before the U.S. version. In Japanese based companies of course.

Square-Enix recently created a new trademark: "Chapters of the Chosen". Doesn't that sound like a good subtitle for the DS remake of Dragon Quest IV?

That sounds like a cool name for a game.

I wonder what Crystal Core is going to be.

Do you remember that Japan-only game Namco x Capcom, a strategy RPG combining Namco and Capcom characters? Well, now it just got a lot weirder.

Capcom x Bandai Namco x Nippon Ichi x Gust x Idea Factory. The game's called X Edge, and it looks completely wack. RPGFan.

OK, apparently Australia's OFLC (same as ESRB or CERO) has a rating trademark for Mega Man 9 as a multiplatform release. This isn't terribly substantial, but it's also the first serious MM9 information we've had since a bunch of crazy fools thought that the GBA version of Mega Man & Bass was actually Mega Man 9 in disguise.

A video that has nothing to do with Mega Man 9

Well now, it looks like we really ARE getting Mega Man 9

A magazine scan
Another one
Three is a pretty cool number

In the Nintendo Power scans above, they do a kinda-retrospective of Mega Man and announce Mega Man 9, which is destined for WiiWare but has no release date. It's being produced by series creator Keiji Inafune and is being developed by the teams that did the Mega Man Zero and Mega Man ZX games.

But yeah, it's ****ing Mega Man 9. 8 Robot Masters, 1 Blue Bomber. You do the math.

Quote (Kotaku)
Revealed earlier this month by the Australian Office Of Film and Literature Classification, the latest issue of Nintendo Power features an interview with series creator Keiji Inafune as well as screenshots from the title, revealing that not only will the game be released as WiiWare, it will retain the classic look and feel of the original NES versions of the game.

The robot bosses for the new title include Magma Man, Galaxy Man, Jewel Man, Concrete Man, Hornet Man, Plug Man, Tornado Man, and possibly Splash Woman. Splash Woman? Really?

I'm laughing and crying at the same time. Those names are so awful that they're perfect.

I'm so excited! I am most looking forward to Concrete Man, who is both made of ceramic and in a retro video game. Hoorah!

Now they just need to release the new Actraiser sequel that they were thinking of and I can die a happy man.

Well, I dunno how often you guys visit Blizzard.com, but something's afoot over there. Every day for the past four days they've shown an image of an icy wall, with something breaking through the ice a little more each day. There are also several "runes" surrounding the ice, and different numbers attached to each new image (that apparently correspond to the numbers of the television show Lost? I dunno, I don't watch the show).

The most popular theory is that Blizzard is planning to officially announce Diablo III. Most of the other theories floating around are a little too strange to take seriously (i.e. Starcraft Ghost, Rock and Roll Racing 2). We should hopefully know the truth on Friday night / Saturday morning.

Id say its WoW related. For if you check the wow site right here it comes up with it, but the SC2 site does not. Also, the Deathknight uses runes. And I think the Lich King has something to do with ice.

Edit: Lich King info.

Ah, Mega Man 9. They weren't kidding when they said 8-bit! Some of my haziest -- and fondest -- memories from my childhood include playing through the first four Mega Man games. I didn't think Mega Man 6 was particularly well designed and Mega Man 7 and 8 just felt WRONG to me (Mega Man's sprite was way too big for a start). As long as the music kicks ass and the levels are well-designed I'll definitely buy this game.

If this isn't a juicy, delicious rumor, I dunno what is:

http://kotaku.com/5021227/chrono-trigger-m...the-nintendo-ds

Evidently, in the most recent scans of Shounen Jump (which hit shelves in another week or so), there's an ad for Chrono Trigger DS, dated for winter 2008 in Japan. Coupling this with the recent announcement of Kirby Super Star DS, this could be one ****ing awesome holiday season of quality SNES remakes.

Oh, and here's some Kirby stuff:

O.o

Lasz, I love you. For reals. KSS is one of my favorite non-RPG games for SNES; awhile back I used to speed run the Great Cave Offensive (and did fairly well, too! I could almost always get it around 50 mins), and I would play this game non-stop as a kid. Man. That's so good. I can't wait.

Nothing needs to be said about CTDS. We all know how godly that is going to be. happy.gif

Woah, crap. I seriously wasn't expecting that rumor about Chrono Trigger.

Shinrin posted this from the "Should Chrono Trigger be put on the DS?" thread. I'd hate to snag it from him, but here http://www.square-enix.co.jp/ctds/.

At least it'll be a good game for a kid to pick up. It's going to show them how good games can really be.

im excited about the kirby one, very apprehensive about the chrono one. a remake would be awesome, i just hope they dont make it 3-D like III and IV, unless it keeps with the spirit of chrono trigger. also, chrono trigger with crisis core graphics? i dont need to say how awesome that'd be

BTW: Chrono trigger DS graphics will be the same, simply adding in a new dungeon and Dual Screen play.

Also, Since MM9 is arriving, NPMagazing has brought about the possibility (through sheer hopefullness is all...) that there might be a Super Mario World 3, SMB4, or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 with said graphics of base console, whether it be SNES, SeGa GENESIS, or NES. Im truly hoping for this, but NP is hinting that this will only really have a chance of coming about if MM9 is successful...which im 99% sure it will be by the sound of it here!

The new Parasite Eve game has some sort of confirmed PSP release, so it's not a mobile-exclusive. That means that hopefully, the 3rd Birthday will get released in English at some point.

There's more news on the game, but only first impressions. The game is going to be more like the 2nd one. Although I'm glad there's going to be another game in the series, I never played the second Parasite Eve because of what I had heard about it.

I'm not that excited about the game, but I'm glad that the series is finally getting some attention. The first game was one of the most unique RPG titles on the PS1.

I remember seeing rumors a few years ago about a remake of the first game on the GameCube, but it was probably just speculation since Square Enix was finally making new titles with Nintendo.
