none of my chocobos has crossed over 999 stamina...but why there are "joe" or "teioh" with their 1278 stamina-black chocobo?
and why there are chocobo with 167 speed which always lose against teioh? |

yeah i looked at that page already thanx i just really wanted to get over the 999 mark like joe has surely it possible i mean if the game can do we must be able to?? i was wondering if you used a different nut to breed them it would make a difference. say if you used a porov nut or a pram nut do you think that would make a difference to the chocobos limit on stamina or am i just hoping i am gonna keep breeding to see how hi i can get my top speed at least cos in theory that should be able to get to 999 as well

176 speed, thats the maximum.
Teioh always will have "x" more speed and "y" more stamina than you (I don't remember, but I think it is 250 stamina) Also, breeding can give better stamina, but never more than 999. Nuts affect how good will be the increase in the newborns statuses. I don't know how good each of them are and how they work out in the chocobo's development, but, Zeio nut is regarded as the best there is. feed it one of the greens that gives it stamina, intelligence and speed until nothing happens, the fact that teioh has better stats than you makes it more interesting and you may have to be more strategic about when u speed up and when u just nip infront of him not letting him pass until ur stamina reguvenates (spelling error)

Even if Teioh has more stamina, you can always use the Regenerate stamina trick.
which more than doubles your stamina during a race. I can't remember what it is exactly but I do know it's holding down L1, L2, R1, or R2 (a combination of two of them). It's been a long time since I've played VII, but I believe it is R1 and R2 -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

Teioh always has 10% more top speed and 25% more stamina than the chocobo you're using. Beating him, incidentally, is easy with a sufficiently raised chocobo. Choose the short race, switch to Manual, hold down Square for two seconds after the start. If using a green, black, or gold, you'll win without further controller input except in the event of getting stuck behind another racer or tackling S class with a green or black (without the stamina trick anyways). When I do this with a gold, I win every time without the stamina cheat.
I've heard that the gold chocobo from trading the Desert Rose is really bad. I have tried this out for myself but tyat was a long time ago so there's a chance that I'm wrong. Top speed was something around 90 I think. |

Quote you can hold all the l and r buttons if you want as well the trick will still work being lazy, it's kind of annoying holding down all the buttons, which is why I'm pretty sure it's R1 and R2, I distinctly remember using only my right hand while racing chocobos. -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

I hate to start a new career with a new chocobo. Class C chocobos suck to the highest of levels. After the race is over, I usualy have to wait a minute and half for the second place to cross the finish line.
But to stay on topic, My Gold Chocobo had the highest stats possible. Strange thing happened to me back a couple of years ago, I think it was back in 1999, I defeated Ruby Weapon and went to exchange the Desert Rose for an extra Gold Chocobo (not that I needed it). When I went to the chocobo farm to feed it some Silkys, I was not allow to. The Chocobo was flickering. Weird, that was the only time it happened, I'm certain to have been able to feed that same chocobo in past games, and future playthroughs. Has this ever happenend to any of you? -------------------- PS3 tag: TipoDLuffy "...quite possibly the greatest game ever made" |

Well, most things I wanted to say were already said...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote lapo posted on 21st January 2007 09:43 ''how i can get 176 speed? '' Game mechanics... have to stop being lazy and finish mine readings... - OK. The idea is to breed over and over, obtaining a better chocobo everytime. - To make your offsprings better than their parents, you'll have to increase their status throught feeding them greens. - Breeding them with the Zeio nut is generally better. - As for Chocobo ranks, they never were a problem to me, mine chocobos were ''always'' class C and I was pretty satisfied with the results. - Also, of course, the process is random. Even though you can influence the odds, you might get variations. Finally, I'd like to say that I'm not expert on this, and although I'm confident to be close to covering it all, something may be missing. But, if all this be considered, you'll get what you want. Highest stats:
I bred a female black chocobo (122, 999) with a male wonderful chocobo (117, 999) and got a gold chocobo with 153, 999 (after 80 sylkis greens). I didn't check the inital stats. Oh, and I didn't breed over and over for any of the colors. Yeah, for Joe and Teioh...they will always have a higher top speed and more stamina. But...they're not as smart as you, if you manually race. With stamina 999, I've always seen Teioh with 1249 (and believe me, I've raced a lot with 999 stamina. I never race until I max out the chocobo's stats). So that goes with the earlier reply mentioning 250. Since top speeds vary, the difference is not quite as obvious. But I believe it's about 15...give or take. And as a random note, if you pay attention at the beginning of a race with Teioh...No matter where Teioh is lined up relative to you (right next to you or on the opposite end), he immediately snaps behind you once the race actually begins. See, when you start the race Teioh is automatically behind you so it's up to your knowledge, practice, skills (and maybe cheats for some) to keep him and everyone else behind you. Oh, and the reason why Teioh wins even though there's an opponent who's top speed is any where from 10-20 higher (or the max of 176) is because his stamina is more than twice the opponent's. Logically speaking (meaning not using the stamina trick...which the game doesn't use, otherwise you'd never win), an average chocobo can't be racing at top speed the entire time. Teioh can maintain a higher speed throughout the whole race because he's got twice as much stamina to maintain that high(er) speed all the way through. Since there was a response somewhere about classes... The lowest stats I've kept and raced were 91, 999. A caught female great chocobo. And I raced her to S Class. I think the game makes all the opponents a little bit more suitable if you're below a certain threshold top speed. Like 100, perhaps. I don't know the specifics. Just a theory. (It just wouldn't make sense if a 91 and 153 could beat the same opponents with the same amount of ease.)
