Popular Japanese gaming magazine recently reviewed the upcoming Final Fantasy X sequel:

http://www.gamesarefun.com/cgi-bin....,33794,

The game was given scores of 9, 9, 8 and 8 by the magazine's four reviewers for a very respectable 34/40 and a Gold Award.  In comparison, the original FFX received a three scores of 10 and one 9 when it was reviewed.

Games Are Fun also has some new screenshots of the game HERE

I don't think one can't base if he or she will enjoy a game solely based on how a magazine reviews a particular game. It is a good initial sign at least.  There are still those who are not even willing to even give this game a chance.  Hopefully, the review will help lighten some of these people up (specifically you 19 who voted "I think it'll be terrible" here: http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/polling/index.php?dispid=9&vo=9) ^_^

Pop Idol Yuna aside, I'm willing to give the game a chance.  Another one of the Final Fantasy games might have led to a better sequel in my opinion, *coughFF7cough* but I'll at least rent it.  I enjoyed FFX's story.  Plus they are bringing back the job system.  I think that just might be interesting.  We'll just have to wait and see how the game will end up turning out.  There isn't any reason (even if it is an "Oh my God" Final Fantasy sequel) to not give a game a chance before it has even been released to the public.

And a question for those among the "19" mentioned earlier:  Why will this game be so terrible? I have complete respect for your opinions, but I'm just trying to feel out the reasoning behind your feelings.  Discussions are always nice and encouraged. :-)

I am quite excited for this sequel.  I loved FFX, it is very close to VI to being my favorite in the series.  It's hard for me to say whether a game will be good or terrible until I play it, and I don't like to make those kind of assumptions.  I don't lend a whole lot of weight to reviews, but I know most game mags don't hand out "gold" ratings like candy.  I would've liked to see a sequel/prequel to Tactics or VI or VII, but I guess we just gotta roll with the punches.  I think it's kind of strange that square is making sequels now, but another Final Fantasy game is more than welcome to me.  I haven't played one yet that I didnt' think was at least good.  Sure, some are better than others, but they all are fun to play and unique in their own way.  Plus the job system!  I wonder if they're going to integrate that into the sphere grid...

I'm looking forward to it myself. After looking at those screen shots, the battle screen definitely looks odd...It has like a spere grid on the left side to determine what your going to do, instead of the traditional menu. At least that's my best guess.

And one by one I watched every constellation die
And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard
Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star
I should've known, walked all the way home
To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone

That'd be something to look forward to!

I'm also looking forward to this game.  Yeah, so I'm a sucker for job systems and the clothes changing idea.  I'm looking forward to it now, actually.

wow, there are people out there other than my friends who hate rikku? cool!
back to topic...
I liked the Job system in 5, but disliked the fact the heros in it did not really develop as much as they could.
10 also suffred from boring people in the game. i only liked auron, and i thought Rikku and Tidus were both annoying. I paryed for rikku to fall off the ship when you made it move against the boss just after bikanel and before The place where you get bahamut. i forgot its name....

will 10-2 make the characters at all more intresting?
